Decanted for 3 hours. Hugely rich, nose of fat, ripe bluebery, marionberry and blackberry jam. The palate is equally intense with a burst of blackberry pie. Then the tannins come calling. This is a tannic monsterthat takes over. Needs some cellar time to soften up, but the fruit and acid is more than plentiful to last. I love this varietal and think that in 2 years this will be absolutely delicious. 89 for now, probably 92 later. $34

I have relatives that have lived in cave junction, garden grove, and selma for a while now. Every so often I go up there and visit. Actually I'm quite surprised to see how things have grown there, on my last visit, I checked out Gooseberrys and was pleasantly surprised. Where is your store located?

My store is on Redwood Highway. If you go past the fairgrounds like you are going to Cave Junction there is an Albertsons and a shopping center next to that. We are next to Vinnys Italian Kitchen.
Here is website.

Will do, although it may be a while. I just got back about two months ago, and I usually try to go about once every year or so. Thanks for the invite though, I'll be sure to post somewhere before I go.

Had a bottle this week, the Rutherford Napa designation. Agree with jasong's notes, but I got a bit of Cabernet-like cassis in this bottle, and not so much tannin. I love a good monster of a PS from time to time, and this didn't disappoint. If you dig the fruit, and don't mind a little tannic backbone, I think this is ready to go now. I don't see it improving, just changing in the coming years. 91pts.

2005 Elyse Petite Sirah Rutherford (USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford) 31/03/2008 Noto Bene 87 pts
Big nose, iodine, blackberry, oak, very promising, but then falls apart on the palate. Iodine and blackberry along with a noticable saltiness that both my wife and I picked up on, leading to a short and thin finish. (298 views)

I too like a big PS, but the '05 left a little to be desired, thankfully it was a gift.
