2002 Casa Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon Cuvée Alexandre Apalta Vineyard - Chile, Valle Central, Rapel Valley, Colchagua Valley (1/14/2006)
I ordered a bottle of this last night at a Brazilian Churrascaria. $48 on the wine list. This full bodied red paired very nicely with all the meat dishes (14 in all). Notes of black cherry, raw meat and spices. Drinking well now and made for early consumption. Not on the same level as the 2002 Clos Apalta but still nice. 89-90 points

VM

Yeah, but considering Clos Apalta is four times more expensive, I think the Cuvee Alexander is a good bargain. I'll try and see if I can find your TN on the Clos Apalta, since I'm having doubts on dishing out US$ 100 (here in Brazil) on that one.

I tried the 2002 Apalta on three occasions and gave it 93 points each time. It was my WOTN at the NY Wine Tasting Experience.....bought a case the next day.

VM,

Don't know if you've tried it yet, but if you can find any of the 2001 vintage of this wine still on the shelves, you might want to try it. Coming from a better vintage, it has much better structure and concentration and worth buying if you can find it.

TomNYC,

If you liked the 2002 Clos Apalta that much, you really need to track down either the '00 or the '01 vintage of this wine!

I also love the 2001 Apalta, had 6 bottles...drank them all. Never tried the 2000...but I'm hooked and will purchase all Apalta's in the future. They are a class act organization.

I enjoyed this wine at a Brazillian Churascaria as well. Such a young, big Cab. This should be good in about five or so years. 88 Points.

Which warms the blood within our veins;
That nectar is itself divine.
The man who drinks not, yet attains
By godly grace to human rank
Would be an angel if he drank.
