This showed up at my local wine store yesterday. Can anyone provide me with any
information regarding this vintage? Price is $140. Is that any good?

Thanks for the help.

Madalex,

I just got my first bottle of Solaia '99, and actually most of the wineshops in Italy will receive it no sooner than the second week of october, fearing too high temperatures during the delivery.

We (in Italy) have very big expectations for this vintage of Solaia, given that the character of the vintage in inner Tuscany is quite similar to 1997 (it is a quite easy to enjoy, extremely fruity vintage), while the level of the quality is expected for some bottles a bit (but really a bit) lower, like it's maybe the case of Solaia (considering the exceptional level of 1997), while for some bottles even a bit higher, like it was for Vigna d'Alceo, for example, listening to RP.

Surely, anyway, a very good bottle. As for the price, I don't know how the American market goes, in Italy you can get your botlle for a price ranging from 90 to 110 euros, but it's quite rare that you can get some under 100, more often over. 140 dollars looks like it's not a bad bargain for the US, but you'd better listen for someone who's there.

Best regards
