So...

1999 Etude Merlot: Corked

1997 Tomassi Amarone: Corked

1999 Icardi Nebbiolo: Rhymes with "porked"

Now I'm getting desprate, I'm about 2 bottles from saying "To hell with it!" and opening a Shafer HSS. But I think my GF might kill me. So, lets hope it doesn't come to that.

Oh my God, and I thought I was having a string of bad luck lately. Did you read the article where Matt Kramer actually suggests a class action lawsuit against wineries to settle the problem? I'd be happy with refunds -- no questions asked, except maybe a litmus-kind of test perhaps to try to keep people honest. But what do you do with your 20 year old bottle of corked wine, purchased years ago from a shop in another state that is no longer in business?

It's too bad we can't have a "national clearinghouse" for corked wines were a sample could be returned somewhere for a replacement. Granted, wine is a luxury, and an art, but how do you think artists feel about paint that flakes off and soon disappears? The beauty of what they created diminishes and you are left with only a ghost of the original creation. Something needs to be done.

I immensely enjoyed opening a bottle of Argyle Pinot Noir last night and twisting off the cap. I performed the act with such finesse that it deserved an Oscar.

Whiner15,

Shame about the Tommasi. That's a nice Amarone.

Better luck next time!

Cheers,

Otis

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, but, unlike otis, I've never had a good Tommasi Amarone and I've had the Riservas back to 1964.

Just one more sip.
