I picked up a few of these last week and was wondering if anyone had any TN's?

I was reluctant to post anything because my knowledge of this wine is second-hand. The grapes for this wine come from the Ridgecrest Vineyard, which is located close to Beaux Freres and Patty Green. I've been told that this is one of the better pinots made in Oregon in 1999. I was told to expect cherries, blackberries, and blueberries. It supposedly drinks well now, but could age a while.

I have had the '99 Chehalem Ridgecrest, this wine's little sister, and I thought it was a wonderfully complex Pinot with cherries in the nose, joined by blackberries, blueberries, a little pepper and spice on the palate, with good length.

Let everyone know how it is when you try it.

This was the best of all the Chehelam 99s in a tasting of Oregon pinots with the distributor
( I wasn't there but got samples later ): lots of dark fruits, nice length and structure. Will need some time.

Thanks for the info. I'll post notes when I uncork one. Hey GMT, how much time do you think they need?

Tasted awhile back head to head with the Chehalem 1999 Ridgecrest and the 1999 3 Vineyards. Sorry about the lack of detail, but I did end up buying 8 more.

"Smelled of roses. Tannins need 2 years, but excellent"

I liked it least of the three, but it was by no means bad - I just thought the Rion was best. My notes on that one were "More acidic and crisp. Vanilla hint." I assume I was comparing to the Ridgecrest. I should really record better notes.

Joe: I always have a hard time with this, but I would wait 2-3 years.
