hello out there. this is my first attempt at any sort of tn. i have much to learn but seem to be entranced by this crazy love affair with wine. so here goes. they won't be detailed just what i seem to think.
97-sebastiani merlot sonoma cask not decanted this is one of my alltime favorite merlots for the money. easy on the nose and not overpowering. smells of blackberry and some other berry not quite sure. the oak is fading away but still could be sensed. still enough tannin to carry for a few more years. nice finish that lasted about 25 seconds. i give it a 89 esp for the price of $15. 98-phelps cab - decanted 2 hours picked up on accident when buying my 99's or well i gave it shot. a very solid wine considering. the nose gave of hints of blackberry and vanilla. tasted of chocolate (my fav in a wine), the oak is still coming through. the tannin is starting to subside. the finish was easy but did not last thatlong. this wine seemed very subdued and refined for a wine of its age. dare i say that it was undserving of its 88 ws rating i give this wine a soild 90pt. i also think it has a good 3-5 years left in it. so there you have it my first tn. i will try to get better as time goes by. damn i love this hobby. |
