Inky ruby in color I was immediately struck by the concentration of color.
Distinctive tar and chocolate on the nose.
The aromas carry through onto the palate. Lots of body, perhaps a bit overweight acids, but not unpleasant.
Black fruit and smoke come up on the finish.
I paid $6 for this bottle, a terrific value IMHO. Could pass for a more expensive wine.
WS review says drink now, but I'd be curious to see what happens after a year or two.
I imagine a good food match would be a rich beef stew, or even braised lamb shanks.
