I was really excited when Tastewine2 emailed me about this wine. I've never had an aged white wine, so this was a first. 1983 was a great, not outstanding, year for Bordeaux whites and Laville is among the best producers. Unfortunately, I don't think there was much fruit left in the wine. My overall impression was greasey butter with grassy notes. Also, this was very delicate, by the end of the night it was undrinkable. 78

Man R2, don't hold back on this one.

I only had a small taste of this wine early in the night. I remember it being subtle with a slight nose. I got creamy vanilla, slight bran (like bran flakes cereal), butter, and a grassy note from the Sauvignon Blanc. Overall subtle, but not unpleasant.

Thanks,
Rob

Slightly gold in color. Musty, smoky kiwi aromas. A bit soft and flabby in the middle, with lemon cookie flavors. Just when you thought the wine was completely void of acidity, it hit you on the finish with surprisingly fresh beam of citrus. A rare opportunity for me to taste an aged dry white wine. Thx tw2! 87P.

Nice golden color. "Flinty" aromas - smooth across the palate. With scallops, the taste changes to a light charcoal. Thx TW2 - score 87.

Admittedly this is not my kind of wine. However, I appreciate it for what it is and will rate it accordingly. The nose was filled with hints of smoke and pear. Like the other Bordeaux blanc, this wine was too warm also in my opinion. It had a delicate, soft texture and was light to medium bodied with a good finish. 90-91 points.
