I know this isn't something anyone is nesessarily looking for but since I just had tried it I'll pass this along.
This wine is probably a couple of years past its' prime. It is still drinking OK but is fading. Nose of cedar and cigar box and slight herb. On the palate the cedar and cigar again come through. The finish is smooth yet rather brief.
Unlike some other older Cal Cabs I've had it's not bad just that it's seen its' best days. You can tell that not too long ago this would have been a damn fine bottle. If anyone has any left don't be afraid to try it, just do it sooner rather than later.
Any other experiences with this wine?

I had my last taste in 99 and I thought it was drinking beautifully. Although I could sense there was little time left, I was amazed how well the wines aged.
I still have a few bottles of the 84 and 85 Cask Cabs and although htese too are beginning to fade, they will still drink well for a few more years.
Anyone who can find these wines should snatch them up. IMO, these wines, and many of the better wines from 84-86 , are Ca. cabernet at its best.
Fill into neck; perfect capsule and cork. Tasted without decanting.
Vibrant, deep crimson-ruby red. Very attractive, evolved bouquet of dried cherries, grilled meat, earth, mint and other herbs. On the palate, notes of underbrush and forest floor, with less fruit than I was hoping for. Astringent, chalky, faintly bitter tannins that got worse after 30 minutes. It appears the tannins have outlived the fruit in this bottle. 86 points.

i had an 86 recently that was drinking amazingly well. we had both the reunion cab and the reunion cab/merlot blend and i felt the merlot blend held up a bit better, despite what the professional reviews said.
