What a joy to drink!

On the nose, violets, orange peel, tar and leather. Also the nose was a little dusty early. On the palate, still showing ripe dark fruits tasting a little like preserves. Plum, berry jam, nice dose of mineral with some mint and licorice on the finish. My last glass was showing truffle and more earth than before.

This 1990 BdM had the tannins for aging, and has aged very well. I will end where I started... A joy to drink.

Thanks for the note. I feel Andrea Costanti is one of the most consistently good producers in Montalcino. If you get a chance to taste his 1995 Riserva it is very similar to the 1990.

And 2001 Riserva is almost better.
