Eno, Can't tell you how happy I am to see this post. While in San Fran last month, I only had time for 1 winery visit last month and I chose Martinelli based on feedback from these forums. I walked away with 2 of the '00 PN Reserves but I've been advised not to open them for a few years. (Note: I also bought 2 Martinelli PN Bondi but I've yet to hear any feedback on those) I know the '99 PN Reserve was, apparently, the greatest PN of all time . Good to hear the '00 is solid. Based on your post, I'll likely try one in the next 6 months and then wait a while to try the other one. Thanks!

kimber, I'll agree with the assessment of the '99. It currently needs three hours after splash decanting.
Eno, how much breathing time did you give the '00?
Just one more sip.

The '99 is just my style. The only better PN's I've ever had were Grand Cru Burgundies. Imo, the '99 is a 96-98 point wine, possible higher in a couple of years.
Just one more sip.

I went to a wine/cigar bar/retailer Friday with a couple of friends. Imagine my shear delight to see several bottles of the Martinelli Reserve '99 available for consumption at $49 plus a $7 corkage fee. Needless to say, we jumped on it. Unfortunately, it was hard to enjoy this wine to its fullest since it was not decanted and a couple of smokers were stinkin' up the room with their cigars. Despite these drawbacks, the wine was impressive. Words such as deep, complex and well-balanced come to mind. Today will be even more fun. I'm going back to buy some to take home. We had this tonight. I didn't take any notes. The wine was redolent of cherries and flowers but lacked the expansiveness I enjoy from the best Martinellis. Probably at its best now. 91
Just one more sip.

Thanks B-O. I'll open my last one at Thanksgiving.

Had this tonight and concur with Board-O's comments. I found this to have more earthiness but less body and fruit than the '99, but still a tell-tale RRV spiciness on the finish. I would not have picked this out as a Martinelli, but I still enjoyed it. 90
