Pineapple and a little honey propped up by a pleasant proportion of acid. Nice and sweet with great body.

Franz Künstler 2001 Hochheimer Kirchenstück Riesling Spätlese #1, Rheingau

Golden-green color, aromas of pluots plus a whiff of petrol, flavors of ripe grapes, with some faint pears and plums in the background perfectly balanced by grapefruit and minerals. Simple, but tasty, 91.

Who do you have to probe around here to get a chardonnay?

I've had both the 2002 and 2003 Kunstler Kirchenstuck Spatlese and rated each of them in the 92-93 point range. Consistently fine wine.

I'm drinking the 2003 right now and I've had the 2004, which IMO is the best of the lot.
