Tried this wine at a local restaurant that features 1/2 off wines every Tuesday. For the record my meal consisted of chipotle barbeque chicken tacos with roasted poblanos and black beans wih rice.

The color was a medium to light ruby. The nose displayed a young grapiness with edges of candied fruit. The palate was dominated early by restrained or better, muted cherry and faint cola with tannins closing in on the edges. After about an hour in the glass, with the food consumed, the wine began to show through with a nice concentration of cherry and strawberry.

Nice wine. 88 points.

Although I have not had the 2001, in the past I have found David Bruce's stuff to be decent QPR wines. So, it does not surprise me that you rated it 88 points. BTW, what did you pay for it at the restaurant?

DOC,

As I mentioned, this restaurant offers 1/2 off wines on Tuesdays, so I paid $20 for this bottle ($40 regular price). [Wink]

Definitely a good QPR, at least on Tuesdays.

Cheers.
