I love this wine! I had it from magnum a few days ago and it showed incredible layers of mineral, lemon rind and petrol on the nose. It was full bodied, dry and very long in the mouth with bright acidity. It is clearly one of the best Rieslings in the world and underlines that dry as well as sweet Rieslings age incredibly well. As I remember, 1993 was no big deal as far as a vintage in Alsace but this rare magnum was an absolute delight to drink. 95 points
I couldn't agree more with vinosnob. Mr. Suckling, I believe you are raising the bar of this site and are attracting more fellow wine lovers. And, hopefully, making this site a little more classy and fun to be a participant.

You liked it a bit more than I did last year. I "only" rated it 91 points at that time. Now my lone remaining bottle of 92 in the cellar is a different matter.
Joe ----- Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.
I am glad to have Mr. Suckling posting in this forum. I too, love this wine. I have visited the Estate on several occasions and have found Hubert Trimbach to be a gentleman and a great wine ambassador. I was fortunate to taste the '93 also from magnum (along with other vintages). The '98 Clos Ste. Hune is great now but will only improve for years to come.

Thanks for the note. I love CSH, but for the money, I will often choose the CFE. I think these are some of the best bargains in ageworthy whites, particularly the CFE. I have a few CSH in the cellar, and they are tremendous wines. I also have the 1990 CFE, which is still fresh and young tasting. Some of the younger vintages are not even close to maturity. I tasted the 2000 vintage recently of both, and any lover of Alsatian whites should take a serious look.
Good point. I have a couple of bottles of the CFE 1990 in my cellar still. It was in the top 10 about 10 years ago or so. I drank one bottle this summer and it was glorious.
