Matty, it is a great wine, however much too young to be opened now. Check my TN from last november here (it's the last TN in the list).

Anche Dio è di-vino

It's a really excellent bottle. Depending on your preferences, you will prefer the 1997 if you enjoy fruit-forward wines and hot vintages, or 1998 if you prefer austere, complex and well developing wines from well balanced vintages.

1998 surely needs at least 3 more years before coming to its best drinking window. Anyway a stunning wine even now. Also really worth the expence the sweet version, Recioto della Valpolicella 1998, a real gem for its capability to express body, fruit and a complex and wide spectrum of aromas, into a smooth but firm texture that makes it an extremely stimulating glass of sweet wine. About half the price of the Amarone, the half bottle.
