Served in: Riedel sommelier series burgundy stemware; Served with: Cedar plank grilled wild Alaskan Chinook salmon. First Impression: Rich, extracted and burning. It had a lot of alcohol on the finish. If I had tasted it blind, I would have sworn it was a syrah. It kind of reminded me of a Lewis Alec’s blend. After 1.5 hours in the decanter, it settled a bit. However, it still seemed disjointed. It had a lot of dark cherry and plum notes. The wine did not have the subtleties and elegance I tend to associate with fine pinot noir. My wife enjoyed it much more than I did. I just thought it was too over the top.
I saved a glass for day two and the alcohol had settled down, but the fruit disappeared. Maybe it was too young? Maybe most KBs don’t agree with my palate? Not a bad wine, but certainly disappointing given my expectations. 87-88pts This message has been edited. Last edited by: DrinkumAll, |

Pure infanticide. Need to sit on that baby for much longer. WS98!
WS98!!! Simmer down, tiger, and let that masterpiece sleep. Trust in Laube. So, brocolli, Mother says you're very good for me. Well, I'm afraid I'm no good for you! |

Welcome back from a four year slumber RRV. The wine world has changed since that time and this KB was not showing well. BTW, Mr Laube's drinking window for it began in 2007...
Perhaps my palate has shifted more torwards the Walla Walla type offerings we have tried recently. |
