1996 Swanson Alexis (Napa) -- couldn't read the back label, but this is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, I believe (there may be more varietals). Still tightly wound, perhaps just beginning to move into its optimal drinking window. Opened up increasingly over 45 minutes; no decanter available, but I'm sure that would have helped. Still dark in color; nice nose of dark cherries and mocha; dense flavors of dark cherry, currant, anise, coffee; long finish with fine tannins emerging, but the fruit wins out in the end. An excellent wine that still has a future; won't open another one for a couple of years. App. 91-2 pts.

[Whoops! Had to correct a pretty funny score [Smile] ]
