My wife and I are headed to the winelands in South Africa next month. We are staying in Franshoek and will be tasting in Stellenbosch and surrounding area. Anyone have any suggestions as to where the best vineyard tours/tasting are? Can you recommend an inexpensive wine tour operator for a half day tour?
Thanks

Andyporter,
Welcome to the WS forums.

I travel quite a bit to SA for my research. However, I have never been on a single tour in the winelands. But I can suggest wines to taste. Do a quick search and you should be able to come up with a list of wineries. Let me know if you need more help.

Hope this isn't too late...

I was down there on business last year. First thing to buy is John Platter's South African Wine Book. The book will list all Wine Routes and local tourist offices.

Try:

www.wineroute.co.za

and

www.franschhoekwines.co.za

I had a great lunch at Fraai Uitzicht 1798 in Robertson, a wine, guest farm and restaurant.

Have fun. I will be going back myself in Oct or Nov.
