What is going on this year? I have had 3 white wines that are some of the finest I have ever had. The '89 Haut Brion, the '69 Baumard and now this...
A stunning nose of peach, apple, smoke and a little forest floor. On the palate ripe apple, apricot, dried apricot really, peach, clove and a smoky mineral finish that goes on and on.
This wine is holding very well imo and still has even more to offer in the years to come.
Maybe you're turning the good side of the force (as in not dark wines).
Did you decant/let this wine sit any? I tend to get quite a bit of fodel or diesel with these aged St. Hunes. Just curious if you got that or let it blow off.
Joe ----- Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

The answer is in the question, look at the wine you're opening

I did not get any petrol at all on this wine. I like a little petrol on my Riesling, but not on this one.

Interesting. Thanks. The last time I popped a 1992 I got quite a bit but most disappaited (sp?) by the 30 minute to 1 hour mark.
Got one more in the cellar.
Of course after reading Rhone Warrior's post I just might have to bring it to an offline with him as an opener when he and Winetex get together for the La Tache offline.

The 1996 is delicious and will likely still be in 20 years.
Being my birthyear I've been searching for a 1976 for a while now.

This TX idea is looking better and better....at this rate the wines may be all the excuse I need.
