Dark color. This wine has integrated nose of berry and oak. Full bodied with good texture. Strawberry on palate with a touch of coaco powder on wood finish. Bin 407 has never been my favorite line-up from Penfolds but this vintage perform better than the previous few vintages I had. Overall very nice wine. Ready now and may be improve over 3-5 years. 89 points.
DP ps Actually, I even prefer this wine more than the more expensive St. Henry's Shiraz from Penfolds in 2001. |

Dpromphan,
The St Henri is a deceptive wine because it appears fairly simple when young, but it evolves into something quite spectacular after 10 years, and in the better vintages can last 20+ years. It was my Uncle George who discovered that alcohol was a food well in advance of modern medical thought. - P. G. Wodehouse |

Never had this but have been tempted by three 1998 Bin 407 tucked away at a local shop. Heard good things about it but never was a big Penfolds fan. Still considering. Hear the 2002 is really good too.

Pauly,
I believe you that St. Henri can age very well, but I am the impatient one DP |
