1990 Château Duhart-Milon - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (12/5/2006)

Allred brought this to Anwars last weekend. I've had a chance to sample a handful of mostly aged Duhart's in 2005 and 2006 and this fell right in the middle of them quality wise. Here are my scores:

1970- 84 points.
1978- 91 points.
1988- 89 points
2003- 88+ points

This 1990 was a solid red color. Typical Pauillac nose with a little mustiness. Notes of porcini mushrooms and simple red fruit. The finish faded a bit or it could have scored higher. 88 points.

VM -- Thanks for the note. I have one of these that I have slated to open in January. Can you advise regarding suggested decant times, if needed?

I think Allred decanted this for sediment only. I don't think this wine needs much decanter time.

I think the 2003 is more impressive. Rated it several times...92+ points. Yum stuff.

Opened one tonight at Flemming's. The bottle was decanted and sat for about 15 minutes while our main courses were finished. This wine was quite enjoyable. Very good nose and good finish. I liked this a bit more than Vino Me. 91 points.

I still have one bottle of the 1978 vintage, but I'm afraid to open it, as when looking thru the neck of the bottle into a light, that brown hue makes me think it might be a tad over the hill! Eek

I may be drinking the '89 soon. A friend of mine has a bottle he is thinking of opening.

Second time I have had this. Both times Allred opened the bottle. Brief decant. Lead pencil, black fruit and leather notes. Much better than the last time I had it which was 2 years ago. Solid but approachable tannins. Full bodied. 92 points.
