This is one of the grocery store variety wines and the low end of Napa Cabs. Unfortunately, the best thing about this wine is the pretty bottle, with the pretty gold leaf on the front.

Coming out of the bottle this wine had the nice deep look of a rich cabernet. The aroma did not disappoint nor did it wow ones senses. Seemed that a little excess acidity was masking the fruit. Pleasing fruit did get through but is mild.

The taste/flavor profile is where the wine looses it. The limited fruit from the nose diminishes in the mouth. The wine is well made in that it is not harsh on the palate and is reasonably well balanced. Tannic structure is smooth and is evident enough to indicate that this wine can age a while longer, but it begs to ask, "why would you keep it?"

I am hoping my wife will finish off this bottle so I can open something else if we feel like celebrating this evening. It is OK to wash down chips and salsa. RL 84 WS 88 if I recall.

Cheers, RL
