Had this yesterday before dinner from a magnum, which, especially in a Champagne, always looks even more festive. Nice golden color and lots of fine bubbles. On the palate, there’s no heaviness at all, just nice dry flavors of ginger and some toasty character. I know there are a lot of people who swear by this champagne, but it’s never really knocked me out. I think there’s not enough fruit flavors in it to please my palate. For less money, I prefer the NV Pol Roger Brut and the NV Nicolas Feuillatte Brut, both of which I find more complex and interesting – as well as more fun to drink!

N.V. Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne Brut - France, Champagne (11/2/2009)
Had several glasses of this at a wedding this weekend at the University Club in Chicago. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was the Champagne that the bride and groom served for the toasts and during the open bar. The best open bar wedding Champagne that I ever experienced. Clean, crisp and very focused. Just what you would expect from a VCP. 90-91 points.

I used to drink NV Clicquot all the time until I drank Tattinger NV. I use to drink Tattinger NV all the time until I drank NV Bollinger. I would drink any of these with my fav by a tad being the Bollinger. All of these are better from Mags.

People overlook really nice RM producers, which in most cases are $10 less than Clicquot, because they've seen it in rap videos and have seen ads for it. It's a decent, consistent wine but I'm just too idealistic for my own good.
If you're young and conservative, you have no heart. If you're old and liberal, you have no brain.
I highly doubt the homies are tipping back NV Veuve, and even if they are, why would that effect what I drink?
I think the consistency of NV Bolli, Tatt, Veuve, etc is a good thing. While I love finding a good small production grower champagne, I also like having the easy option of a good quality NV.
