  • 2005 Prunotto Monferrato Rosso Mompertone - Italy, Piedmont, Monferrato (8/15/2008)
A very unique and interesting blend, this wine. Syrah and Barbera. Lots of cool fresh blackberry and smokey scents on a nicely framed and structured palate with more fresh blackberry framed by mouth watering acidity. The attack is good but on the "end palate", it was a little thin. The finish is tannic but a little thin as well. But very interesting combination nonetheless. Drink or hold for the next 2-3 years. Did you try something else by Prunotto?
They are a very good and named wineyard. If you can, try the Nebbiolo from their upper level production... surely you'll appreciate!
Bye.

Apottina drinks with http://www.enoteca.marcocostantini.com

Thanks Apottina. Good to know. I hope to try some more of their offerings. Do you find they are more of a modern producer than traditional?
