Pyang- I think it's a good idea that you don't come to this. There's no way a soft California boy like yourself could possibly survive Chicago in January. Good decision.

All of the out of town WS board members who will be attending this event should go to this link to participate in the recorking ceremony at the Cellar Diminishment Party.

Hey Otis--

Missed you at Timpanos...It was a fun night.

Just out of curiosity, any space left at the CDP for two more?

Hi Joe,

Sorry I couldn't make it to Timpanos. I had another holiday party I'd already committed to. Sounds like you guys drank some excellent juice!

Got the news yesterday that (unfortunately) Mr. and Mrs. bman have to stay in Ottawa over New Year's and can't make it. However, that does open a couple spots up for your friends.

Please send me an email with their names, so I can add them to the list.

Cheers,

Otis

Does this make Mrs Grossie and I the sole Canadian representatives at this affair? I will take this responsibility very seriously and make sure that at some point I either wear a lampshade on my head or remove all my clothes. Red Face

Yes, but I came here for an argument.

Oh! Oh! I'm sorry, this is abuse.

For those coming to Chicago and looking for things to do in their spare time. Check out this link about Chicago which I posted a long time ago.

For some other ideas specific to the time you will be in town, try these:

Art Institute of Chicago- One of the best Impressionist exhibits in the world (if not THE best). Thru January 11th they will have exhibits on "Paul Gauguin and the Sea" and "Manet and the Sea". General admission is free on Tuesdays. (312) 443-3600.

State Street- All of the stores should still have their window displays up on January 3rd.

Theatre- If you are staying downtown, you will be very close to the Theatre District. Ther are many plays to catch including Blue Man Group, The Lion King, Late Night Catechism, Tony and Tina's Wedding. You can find info at this link.

Gospel Brunch- The House of Blues has seating at 9:30 and 12:00 on Sunday. Ticket and other info is here.

I can't believe we're missing this, and for something that won't be any fun, to put it mildly but is alas, necessary. Frown

Nonetheless, we're committed to hitting Chicago at some point, perhaps in the spring. I'll keep my eye out for a suitably decadent event on these forums (not that it will likely match the Cellar Diminshment Party Frown Frown)

And while I will miss meeting you all, especially those coming from afar, Pinot Envy, as Dorothy said to the Lion: "I think I'll miss you most of all". Any chance of that trip to Montreal happening?

snow sucks.......

My husband, an honorary Canadian per Sir Seaquam and the good Duke Tyee, has been yearning to visit his motherland of late. We have been tossing around Quebec and Whistler...who knows? For all I know we will end up in Guam Roll Eyes

I enjoyed my trip to Guam. Something different. Don't think I would climb on another plane for 16 hours to go there a second time though.
