WMIL: the official stance of management (i.e. Mrs. O) is that any re-positioning of houshold furnishings should be done only on an "as needed" basis. Example: If someone passes out on the rug, we can roll him up and put him in the garage. Couch in the cellar: that was a borderline call. Especially after the bottle of '01 Meville Pinot Noir went down in the process. Eek

davidn: very generous of you! I am sure the Chicago folks will be much obliged. For those who haven't seen it, davidn's cellar makes mine look like a broom closet. It's awesome.

tlily/R2: Game on, my friends. Hopefully, we'll get a few bone-crushing bodychecks right in front of us. The Hawks look terrible this year. But they will hit.

tw2: I'm all over that, but Vino Me will be there handing out his attorney cards if someone gets hurt. He's already suing me on behalf of Blue Oval's broken ankle.

AllredATT: Glad you can make it. Like the cupholder idea. Maybe a clipboard, too!

Out.

Otis

I am never going in the cellar. After all, I will not fit through the door since I will be in a "bubble." Oh Paulie? You won't see him no more . . .

Cheers,
Blue Oval

Wow! This is sounding good. I haven't planned my annual Florida trip yet (to see the inlaws), but I may have to convince Mrs Grossie of the importance of waiting until mid January to go South.

Tlily- maybe we can arrange for a shared ride since I live not too far from downtown. A limo perhaps?

Tlily and Pyang- remember, Chicago in January is known to be cold. That means below 50 degrees, and sometimes it's even 50 degrees below (zero). Bring your wool underwear, and Tlily bring your insulated bathing suit for Otis' hot tub.

We're in for a Limo, that would work perfect. I'm not planning on getting a car, as my driving in snow is suspect.

I did pretty well last year except for the need for a warmer hat. We actually got too warm a few times, although standing out in front of the Natural History Museum waiting for a cab with the wind blowing off Lake Michigan, is the coldest I ever remember being, including -15 one winter in New Mexico.

I'm sure to mock you all at least 2-3 times to the fact that it will be 60 back in California and we have the hot tub set at 94. Wink

ooooo I'm jealous! There is a faint possibility we might be able to attend, but it is only very faint. But if it works out, oooo yeah, we're there. Always wanted to visit Chicago...

Mrs Vino Me told in strict confidence that January is indeed the best time of year to visit Chicago!
I may have to make this one.......
that is; if the invitation is still open Smile

TJ/PE: I hope you can make it!

I am very pleasantly surprised by the potential turnout of in-town and out-of-town all-star forumites. Should be a blast.

Here's the roster of interested attendees so far:

Blue Oval (2)
R2D2 (2)
WIML (1 or 2)
rhb537 (1 or 2)
Vino Me (2)
pyang (1)
jcubed (1 or 2)
tlily (2)
tBird (1 or 2)
nsexton (2)
rob a (2)
tastewine2 (2)
Joe Wu (2)
Italian Wino (1)
AllRedATT (2)
grossie (2)
TJ (2)
PE (1 or 2)
frankie (2)

24 to 30 people and counting. Can probably go up to 40 before my house starts to creak. Will need to open at least 60 bottles for this crowd. The perfect antidote for an overcrowded cellar! CoolBig Grin

Cheers,

Otis

otis:

this is a must for us, i offer up dame frankie's 80's record spinning talents, but she says why mess with perfection, you already got that covered. that's it, people should bring 80's tunes on vinyl once the party gets rocking!!

rethinkinig my collection of vinyl from the 80's betrays my entire lack of knowledge of good music from that era, which of course i attribute to my upbringing in the heartland known as iowa, where lynyrd skynyrd was the music of choice, followed by doses of 38 special, etc., you get the idea. i do however, have some nicely preserved aerosmith, def leppard, nazareth, journey (i didn't say that, really!!) and styx and police. on second hand, we leave the vinyl at otis' party to the people who grew up in chicago and CA.........iowans, no music for you!!!!

Oh man, I recently chucked my old vinyl. I have most of the ones I wanted to keep on CD, though.

It should be a hoot going through security with 18 bottles of wine and an arm load of Journey and Styx records. I may even have some Huey Lewis for Tbird.

I've got a ton of vinyl. I used to DJ during the 80's and was into music way before that. I've got everything from an almost complete Beatles collection all the way up to 80's Dance Music including the Cars, Duran Duran, Robert Palmer, The Fixx, etc... I can even bring all of my Heavy Metal so Tbird and I can bang a few heads. Judas Priest, early Metallica, Dio, Deep Purple, Kiss, Motely Crue, Pantera, dope smoking music like Robyn Trower, Frampton, I got it baby!!!!

Otis, I think you better hide the Royal Doulton and fine china..... This is starting to sound like those parties I used to throw back in the 80's when my parents used to go away for the weekend !
