spo Member Posted May 19, 2007 03:37 PM Hide Post I forwarded them to you, Wine Joe. Just in case SD-Wineaux is vauming and does not see your post
I got them. Thanks, Spo.
But what exactly is "vauming". I don't think I've ever been to the house of a "vauming person" before. Whatever vauming may be, it still pales in comparison to WineOh's line about "doing his family out in the desert".

Another highly enjoyable off-line. It was great to meet jmch75 and re-aquaint with spo, Sean Trembley and Wine Joe. For reference, the line-up was: 1996 Laurent-Perrier Champagne Brut Millésimé N.V. Rockford Shiraz Black Shiraz (promised by Wine Joe in a different thread) 2003 W.H. Smith Pinot Noir Maritime Vineyard 1996 Château Cantemerle 2004 Tikal Malbec Altos de Mendoza 2005 Walter Hansel Winery Pinot Noir The North Slope 1996 Domenico Clerico Barolo Pajana 2005 Mönchhof Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese 2005 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel 2002 Château Raymond-Lafon (375ml Sauternes)
A great afternoon of people and wine!

Thanks for having us over SD-Wineasux, it was nice. Had a good time. I enjoyed Cantermerle the most I think. I also liked that Barolo. That Black Shiraz was a shocker, and very much reminded me of a cross between Joseph Swan 2000 Syrah and 2001 Cabernet Sauvingon. Actually, I liked everything. See you guys next time.
I'm not too sure how to send a PM to Sean Trembley, so if someone could help, that'd be great.
Sean,
I found what I mentioned to you yesterday. Visit 4060 Morena Boulevard. They were closed around 6PM Sunday when I drove by, so can't say I saw inside the place, but the sign outside seemed to indicate they specialize in German offerings.
Good Luck.

Doh! Absolutely correct. I have added it to the list for the sake of posterity.
And it was a pleasure having everyone over. No driving...have wine left over...what's not to like!?!
Oh dear. This does pose a small problem for me now.
I enjoyed the "desert" wines enough to want to revisit them at a later time and purchase a few to keep for desert events. The sauterne was the only one of its kind, so easy to remember (and find), however, I did not recall that there were two Rieslings that were opened.
As I recall, the one I tried after the Sauterne was very nice. It was sweet, without being overly heavy with a syrup-y aftertaste. This I liked, and thought it was the Prum, however, in light of Sean T's comment, I am not sure any more. Could it be that one of these is not "sweet" in taste?

The Spätlese wasn't as sweet as the Auslese or the Sauternes, so tasted at the same time as those other two might give the wrong impression. But it's also possible that you didn't try the Spätlese during the opening of those final bottles - only about 1/4 of it was consumed and Sean and I may have accounted for all of that.
