What are some good wine bars in NYC or long island? I am fairly new to wine and I would like to try some different types.

My personal favorite might be the wine bar attached to I Trulli, 27th Street between Park and Lexington (and incidentally, right across the street from the WS offices).

It's small, well-staffed, and entirely Italian.

I used to love Punch & Judy on the LES, but that place seems to have become more of a party spot than a place to linger over a glass of something yummy.

I particularly like I Trulli, Otto, and 'ino, and Paradou. The first 3 of which are exlusively Italian. Paradou is exclusively French. Cesca, on the upper west side, also has a wonderful list of wines by the glass available at the bar. Morrell at Rockefeller Center has an interesting selection available, but the prices are absurdly high.

Does Paradou still serve wine in water glasses?

Just one more sip.
