Actually, if we're still standing, a glass of port and a cigar will do just fine.... Cool

Cigars, yes! Port - I doubt it. Extremely overpriced bubbly for your hosts, you bet! Eek

I don't know about the rest of the gang, but I am STILL recovering.... Eek Roll Eyes Razz

A truly spectacular evening. I took no formal notes, but I know GreenDrazi was writing up a storm.

Thanks to Greeny for putting this together. Very sorry to have missed the G&PNs. Hope we'll get another chance. Great to meet Drazi, AH, DG and HurrahSyrah. The Texans were their usual spectacular company and it was great to have a fellow Marylander in Festiva down there to balance out all that "southern-ness." Razz

Bones was a great venue. We had a really nice private room downstairs, with just enough room for the gang and all the wines to spread out a little. Our server could not have been more accomodating. The food....... Seriously good stuff. The chilled seafood platter was artfully prepared and fresh as fresh can be. I had the tuna, which was sushi grade and delish. The mixed grill was wonderful as well.

I couldn't pick a WOTN for myself, but wines of note from the evening for me included the 1998 Ornellaia (an awful lot going on in the glass,) the 1996 Dom (this wine was absolutely singing,) the 1996 C. Fantino Sori Ginestra (this wine was austere the last time I had it, and is exhibiting much more fruit than previously. Just entering it's window, and a looooooong ways to go.) The 1996 Les Pavots was delish, but I wish I'd had a chance to taste it before the 2 Italians as it was more subtle and soft. A super wine. By the time the dessert wine was served, my buds were toast. As I mentioned to w+a later in the evening, that wine deserved a couple of hours of contemplation under the stars.

I usually have 2 types of regrets after these affairs:

1) I never get enough time with everyone there. Frown It's just the nature of these things.

2) I often feel a little decadent. Confused Just about every one of the wines we tasted that evening were truly wonderful stuff and each would have made for a special evening by themselves. To have so many great bottles in such a short period is just frikkin' wonderful, if a little extravagant!

I'm going to continue to work on #1. #2, I'm just going to get over! Razz Big Grin

Thanks again, everyone. I had a blast!! Hope to have pics up later in the day.

PH

PH,
Well said and I’m glad I didn’t partake in any wine at the wine bar. You folks will need some down time for your liver and some quality time on the treadmill. Big Grin

Looking forward to the pics. I agree about the 1st regret, but as for the 2nd one, well ……………… Smile

PH,
The pictures and captions are great!
And I wore a green shirt - I thought that might help with identities.

Seriously, thank you GreenDrazi for working with Bones to craft such a fab evening! It was a pleasure to finally meet you. I also really enjoyed meeting DG, HS (way to stay upright)Wink, and AH (a.k.a., "pinot pimp"). And, Festiva, what can I say? I now am crushing on two Marylanders... Big Grin Oh, the guest of honor isn't too bad either. Wink Smile

Great pics, PH. But, hey, shutterbug, you know full well that "artful shot" has nothing to do with me. (As evidence, I introduce the hand found in the lower right hand corner of the pic.) Wink Razz Smile

Greeny,

As all others have said above, well done! I tip my hat to you. Smile

It was great to meet up with old friends and to meet new friends as well. It goes without saying, the best part of this forum for me is the fellow wine lovers I have had the chance to break bread with. Cool

Already looking forward to my next offline. Big Grin

LOL! She’s got you PH. It’s either her story or Festiva has very lovely hands. Big Grin

I'm sure glad I got that manicure before the offline! All that soaking in Palmolive really paid off! Smile

GD, you really know how to organize an offline. The setting was fantastic, food was great, and the wines were superb. Of course, the best part of thisget together was the opportunity to meet some really nice, wine-minded people: Skosh, GD, Skosh, Hurrah Syrah, Skosh, DG, Skosh, AH, Skosh, W+A, Skosh, and of course, the incomparable Skosh! Thanks for letting me be seen in public with all of you!

Sorry I missed the shoe show! PH, will you be posting pictures of the post-offline party? I'm bummed out I missed it. My flight back home left way too early Saturday morning...

I'm looking forward to more of these out-of-town offlines. Chicago in October??? There are a lot of super-nice people on this board!
