Prez,

Lentini and longboarder come to mind. There are people here from all over the place. Heck, there are more European posters than MD posters.....

It's nice to know I have a couple of neighbors to the north on here. Maybe if we get a few more of us between Richmond and NC we can try a few of the wine dinner experiences that the MD crowd seems to constantly host.

I did one a few weeks ago at the relitivly new Ruth Chris is Virginia Beach and it was a great event. I even ended up with a few 2004 John Duval Entity's.

I'm like the Pluto of the Maryland off-liner solar system... I might get declassified and not allowed to participate at any time.

There are a couple of other unmentioned VA forumites I've met: Jace is a new one and COgre is around every now and then. (Up here in NOVA)

No chance of that Lentini. We keep you around for comedic value if nothing else. Razz

Comedic value! Don't you remember what that guy does for a living? Rocket and scientist are terms used to describe if I am not mistaken.

He balances out my lack of brains and keeps the group's bell curve moving in the right direction!

Now, why are you being nice to me? What are you gonna ask me to do? I'm scared now.

(a few minutes later)

Brain: Oh... he's not being nice, he's just being a sarcastic ***.

Stomach: Who cares?? He shares his wine. He can't be that bad!

I had dinner at Ruth's Chris in VA Beach last night. Do they permit corkage?

We started off with drinks at Sonoma's, the place downstairs from Ruth's Chris. Wow! What a great selection of wines. Overpriced, but a great selection nonetheless!

As far as I know, no corkage anywhere in Virginia at this time. Though you can bring home recorked wine, I hear.

I'm going to Ruth's Chris in DC (instead of the closer ones in VA) next week because they do allow corkage.

Yup, its true (VA type and NEW), although I wander seem to back & forth (sic) around the beltway. While currently based on the MD side, my roots have NoVA all over them. This solar system (e.g., Pluto) is not that large.

I have seen some websites listing restaurants with DC corkage, but would love to know which is(are) most reasonable (w/good food too, of course). Could make for a good offline.

Of course we could always set up an offline at The Little Inn, the more reasonable Four & Twenty Blackbirds [www.fourandtwenty.com] or Blue Rock Inn, [http://www.thebluerockinn.com, which can be 'flexible', but I have not yet been there] when the sun gets warmer. Alternatively, Keswick Vineyards has a nice venue outside of Charlottesville.

I appreciate Lentini's efforts to skew the distribution, especially important the day after MD tastings. And, he (as well as the MD-spect's) has good taste in wine.

Likely correct, but you can always get a room ($$). If they did, I bet they would have a hefty corkage.

Four & 20 routinely does Linden (#1 or 2 VA wine, in my opinion) dinners (e.g., May 18th, 25th), and Blue Rock will talk about a more 'traditional' offline...I was just trying to bait our more...Southernly brethren

We helped Gadino bottle last year. I bet they would host a Italian-oriented offsite. Roll Eyes

No kiddin'. Their cheapest room on a Saturday night is around $700. Eek

Last time we went, we hired a limo and drank port and smoked cigars on the way home. Cheaper than a room and a whole lotta fun!

Ah, a belly full of Wellington and cream brulee, a Montecristo + bottle of '63 Quinto de Noval, and a bunch of wino's in a limo - what better time could one hope for? Razz

Sounds like we should practice more...when does the plan for March roar in????

Easy. Substitute "bunch of winos" with "stunning blonde." Wink Add tinted glass, a two hour drive, a kick ass sound system and a discreet driver......

As a Marylander, I must say that most of us who do live in the DC area know better than to live in NVa. Big Grin Not that the traffic isn't bad on this side of the Potomac, but not a bad as over there in the Old Dominion.

When in doubt, open another bottle.

Now Dinwiddie... When you Marylanders develop driving skills... your opinion might flip.

[I couldn't resist - It's required for Marylanders and Virginians to rib each other about their driving/traffic. We'd make fun of DC, but with all the pot-holes, you can't pick up enough speed to see how good their drivers are.]
