I can't think of any conflicts off the top of my head, but I'll caveat that since I need to check my calendar at work. Since I'm taking this week off, I'll get back with you on Monday.

Me Andy, John and Sean all met up at 3rd corner in ocean beach tonight...an awesome retail-restaurant-wine bar. Thanks to john (pinot ho) for introducing us to this place! Heres the wine we enjoyed this evening...almost all wines were winner..minus justin cab which was avg...
1.2003 Chevalier Père et Fils Ladoix A very nice red burgundy that really showed it stuff with some time out of the bottle. Initally a nose of red cherry, pine, and barnyard that evolves with time in the glass to scents of strawberry and red fruit. A beautiful balance between new and old world pinot. Great backbone of acidity with low-soft tannin. Drinking great now, but will continue to evolve for 3 more years....If youre anxious enjoy anytime soon 91
2.2003 Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Great traditional chianti nose that I could pick out blind easilly. Soft texture...a touch of heat...medium weight on the palate but balanced with great acidity. Bright and energetic red fruit on the mid palate. Finesse. 90
3.2003 Paitin di Pasquero-Elia Barbaresco Sori Paitin Nice brick edged ruby color that beautiful barbaresco brings to the table. A nose of tar strawberry accents truffles cherries and licourice.A soft entry that leads into firm chalky tannic grip . Mouth watering...long finish of plum.....really helped satisy my craving for piedmont! 90
4.2005 Justin Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon A sweet green nose...perhaps aloe vera?? Traditional paso blackberry and blueberry with out of balance heat and extraction. Very much like cherry pie on the palate...over the top for me...hoping justin isnt playing to the new world fruit bomb critics Its really my favorite! 88
5.2003 E. Guigal St. Joseph elegant...floral nose with a candied presence of cranberry and violet. Soft and elegant...amazing weight and color for 12.5 percent alcohol. Rich mid palate.I think this is a great QPR at 25 bones. 91
6.2005 Beckmen Vineyards Syrah deep blueberry pie aspect on the nose with a touch of baking spice and oak. Rich intense midpalate that is highlighted by earthy and mushroom laden scents that evolved with time open. Beckmen is really doing it right! 91
An amazing boys night out...Great wines, conversation and food!

Justin has certainly fallen from grace in my opinion. I hope they will reconsider their current approach. Hope they have not screwed up their Justification 2005.
Where did that Beckmen come from?
Good Barbaresco pick. Thanks for the introduction. I have had Nebbiolo and Barolo and somehow that was just so much more enjoyable than the other two.
I was happy with everything that we picked and thought that was a nice way to spend a Sunday. Thanks a lot guys.
Caleb, you should consider reposting your notes from yesterday and the hash house in the tasting note section. They are great notes and it is always good to share with others.
It looks like we're narrowing ourselves down to the 21st / 22nd, with a preference for the 21st, since I'd say it's unlikely that we'll pull things together by this weekend.
Settle on the 21st? I'm game.
And any suggestions on a location?

21st sounds good.. location?? It was nice to buy off the shelf at 3rd Corner yesterday, but i enjoy bringing something from the cellar.. There are plenty of restuarants to venture out too, but not as intimate...Wine Steals has back rooms at both locals, but you need to order a minimium of $250.00 from either the wine or food menu to get them... I might go manana to Hillcrest for their Spanish $5.00 tasting and can check it out further....WineJoe are you going fishing on the 22nd?

I sort of prefer sitting down to a dinner. It helps me handle the wine a bit better, it breaks up the evening, less drunken mayhem. I loved 3rd Corner and was happy with the wines we got. I especially liked the fact that the staff knew exactly how the wines were drinking. I would actually like to do that again. I just want to give them a few weeks to forget. Wine Steals looks sort of 3rd Corner-ish but they have a smaller food menu. It might be tough to get to $250 unless they have a $25 corkage.

Wish I could go, but have a meeting I need to attend. Nothing like catching fresh Ahi tuna, eating it sashimi style on the boat as soon as it's pulled out of the water, and enjoying it with a Pacifico beer or a nice chilled Rose' from Bandol, or perhaps one of the Pinot Rose's that are starting to come out of the central coast and Sonoma.
If anyone on the fishing trip can get me some fresh ahi, albacore, yellowtail, or other sashimi grade fish, I might just be willing to trade for something from the cellar

JMCH and I did the Wine Steals tasting.. nothing too fancy, but some good stories to come out of the evening... Anyone interested in tasting this weekend??? Bacchus has some fun wines to try? 3rd Corner again on Sunday??? I am up for something casual...
Oh yeah, I will see what I can do to get you some fresh fish... even if I have to steal it.. I like your cellar....

Hmm, this may work out well. I like fishies too, once in a VERY blue moon. But most of the time, I usually get yelled at by the people next to me, because I throw them back, and not into my brown colored burlap sack. They claim that I should put it in their bag if I don't want it, but to be honest, I just like catchin em. Not eatin em.
But since this is for a good cause, I guess I can make an exception. From this point forward, whenever I go, you'll get first dibs Wine Joe. It might be a while before I go again, but I'll keep it in mind, and know who's house to drive to when the ship comes in to the docks.

Hey definitely good times! Decent sampling of Spanish wines, and all sorts of other wines that I haven't heard of. Nice view of racks. Nice food.
Good times.
I'm up to hit up some more drinks this weekend, let's start up the email threads or post about it here. Whichever floats everyone's boats.

I was eyeballing a bottle of Coindrieu and an 01 Burg when we were there. You know you got problems when your up to your eyeballs in wine and you are already thinking about coming back for more.
