WOW,

i also like to thank all that came to this offline
and shared wine and food!

there was no time to talk to any one, have a sip from any bottle and writing notes Roll Eyes

as a port lover i have to send a very special thanks
to skwid who kindly brought the 1955 taylor's.
a wine i search for years!
the only bad thing about it was that i almost had to
force my self to hurry drinking it, if there is a next bottle in my life i would like to have one day time to taste, retaste, retaste and so on.. Big Grin

i was surprised that the backbone of this wine is
very similar to the 1955 graham's, could that be
the vintage? (it's to early to say that for me after only 2 wines from this vintage)
well,
it's wonderfull ripe and round same time it feels very young! the alcohol that some metioned that was to hot, had a paralell to the graham's 55'
it needed about 1 hour to flight away, but then it
was wonderfull integrated!
at this moment i like to mention how sad i still are that i forgot the bottle at the restaurant! Frown
the wine was extreamly long and i enjoyed the
taste, sweet cherrys, prune, boisenberrys but also
strawberrys, followed by a blue-grape taste,
still planty tannins wonderfull integrated!
i really enjoyed this glass to the max.

i would love to come over again! Big Grin
thanks

NOT! just because I brought my wine in a brown paper bag doesn't mean you have to be jealous. It fit the wine, it was fortified after all. Wink I thought the port went very well with the warm chocolate cake desert. One reason I saved opening the port until the end, as I knew otherwise it would get slurped up in no time. I was a very popular person once word got out that the port was opened and people heard what it was. I hope folks enjoyed it. I was hoping to get a glass of the 1995 Reiusec but the folks who has the Foie Gras appetizer slurped it all up. I got a sip from cooker and it was pretty good.

There were several wines I didn't get to taste, but "oh well" the stuff I did get I enjoyed which is the important part. The company was great and the food was very good.

Wonderful event.

It was nice seeing old faces and meeting new ones.

Glad to see you made it home o.k. Orlando!

My wines of the "early" night:

'85 Grgich Cab. - Great wine! Still could hold well in the cellar. Great youthful fruit and wonderful secondary nuances. I loved it.

'95 Rieussec - MMMMMMMM........

My Wines of the "late" night:

'86 and '90 d'Yquem (Thank you Gusbo!!! Big Grin). They are both excellent, but I don't think the '86 will ever catch up to the '90. Both need time to improve, but the '90 has it all. Elegance, power, palate prescence, and an incredibly long finish. There is no better sticky than d'Yquem!

My biggest disappointment of the night....

The 3.0L of '92 Merryvale.....Out of the starting gates, the wine had a musty funky odor behind monstrous tannins, and very reserved dark fruit and spice. As the night went on it was more and more apparent to me the wine was corked. The fruit and spice disappeared entirely and the musty funk turned into a very clear wet newspaper/cardboard aroma us wine lover's despise. I think there was potential there for the "Harlanesqueness" of this wine, but not in the bottle we had. Thankfully I have one more! Now I just need another 48 person offline........

Cheers,

-DRAB

So much wine.....so little time!!!
