Sounds great, but this is the day of the Davidn picnic, so I'm already book. Have a great time!

Leonard,
Whatever you want to bring is fine, no theme, we are easy.

Whiner,
I believe there are vegetarian menu options as is, but I'll double check and take care of it.

pyang,
what about if we do:
wines from same year around the world,
or wines from same region,
or Wine Spectator top 10 wines from any vintage?

and if someone does not have one, he then bring any that he thinks is close to the theme.

Actually it may be fun to bring what we think is going to make this year's WS Top 100.

If we do that, I think there will be more Reiussec and Clos Apalta than we will know what to do with!

DRAB,

you weren't REALLY kidding Cool , I was about to suggest that everyone was going to bring Clos Apalta if we did that. The one problem I would point out with this is that WS takes price and availability into account. Thus, many of the wines we are betting on simply aren't super-interesting. Nevertheless, this is an interesting proposition. Most of my best wines are limited production CA, Germans, or Italians from tiny producers, in fact, the only "interesting" wine I have that I would bet makes the WS top 40 is the 2001 Planeta Syrah. (Kumeu River Chard will be there, just like it is every year, but I'd prefer to bring something a little better than that.) But how about we bring wines that we think will be in the WS top 100, or wines we think are better/more interesting than the WS top 100 and talk about how stupid the WS top 100 is? Wink Razz

a

p.s. Of course, if others want to do predicted WS top 100 that is fine and I will happily bring 3 wines I predict will be there.

Are you guys having trouble reading what I posted? Wink

I wrote what's going to make Top 100, didn't write what's coming in at #1... Razz

If we are talking about what's coming in #1, we may have to do an Iron Chef style dinner where the ingridient is foie gras.

Shoot, as many as four sauternes can finish in this year's Top 10, I am forecasting two, maybe three.

I hope that WS does NOT place more that one Sautern in the top 10. That will be a disaster tasting in the next New York Wine Experience. Big Grin

I propose that everyone:

BYOB Wink

that meaning anything good and that you like to share with others because you know or think it may be interesting (something like Whiner15 idea).
