I've got some '93, '95, and '96 Brunello (not to mention a plethora of younger vintages). I figure I could talk futronic into this as a road trip, but timing is my biggest restriction. I'd need a couple months lead time to organize my schedule. Anything closer to Rochester or Buffalo would be easier for the Canuck crowd. Even Detroit.
Maybe we should aim for some time mid to late February. Let's see who else chimes in then pick a location and date. Would we prefer a weeknight or weekend? Either works for me.
Count me in. Only problem is that the oldest Brunello I now have in my cellar is the 1995 Banfi Poggio All'Oro Riserva, which is way too young. I've also got one each of the '96 and '97 Barbis - then a bunch of other wines from '97 and more recent vintages.
Too bad I don't have another bottle of the 1990 Poggio Antico Riserva that I bought it Italy.
Haven't been to either New York or Philly, so either works for me - I'll have to fly down either way.
People are going to have to fly, so let's try and make it for a big city (Philly, NYC or DC) since it is easier for everyone to get to. Also, let's do it on a weekend (may be harder to get a place... but we'll work around that). This way, work won't be a major conflict.
Go HOKIES!!!

Since people are going to have to fly anyway, my vote goes for Italy; as PH already suggested, and I suggested on the TN thread. Flights are cheap now. If not, PH you're welcome to come on over. I'm sure we could have a doozy.
We might need to do two of these simultaneously VIA satalite.
It may be hard to please everyone (location wise) on this. Like I said, I'll go to Philly, and obviously NYC . I think this would need to be a Saturday Night.
Depending on the size, maybe we can go straight Italian theme on this? 12 Brunello's could get a little boring. I have some great older Amarone and Barolo reservas too. Up to you guys.

I agree that a weekend event would be in order. If this ends up in NYC, I'll probably end up flying in Friday afternoon, and staying until midweek, then perhaps fly to Chicago for more offlines.
Ok, let's pick New York or Philly. I obviously vote for Philly, not only because I live here, but the sediment in my 1975 La Chiesa di S. Restituta is going to get all sloshed around if I have to schlep it to New York.
Being serious though, Philly has the advantages of being BYO friendly for the most part and those of you staying in hotels won't have to drop $300 to $400 a night on your hotel room like in New York. But of course, New York has the advantage of being New York, and I already have a couple outstanding restaurants in mind. Anyway, let's decide...
