With Winemaker Dominique Demarville
at the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas
Tuesday, June 21st
7pm

This should be one of the highlights of the year for Champagne lovers. We have
the winemaker for Mumm Champagne, Dominique Demarville on hand this evening to
present four Champagnes from this house. This is an informal mingling event
that will take place in the Riverside Hotel’s Champ Carr Ball Room where we will
have four stations each set up with a different appetizer paired to a selection
of Mumm Champagne. The bubbles and the food will be free flowing from each
station until 8:30 pm. Come and mingle with one of the top minds in Champagne
today and enjoy the food and atmosphere at one of the most elegant settings on
Las Olas Boulevard.

The Menu for this Evening:

Fresh Oysters topped with Pancetta and caviar
Mumm de Cramant
This rare and precious cuvee is made in the purest Champagne tradition since
1882. Its low pressure gives a delicate effervescence. A single-cru cuvée of
incomparable purity, blended in the time-honored tradition with a strict
selection of 100% Chardonnay Cramant wines. Its label recalls how business
cards were used in the past; a turned-down corner indicated that the bottle of
Mumm de Cramant champagne had been hand-delivered. Formerly reserved for the
administrators and friends of the House, it is now Mumm's exceptional cuvée.

Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut Champagne
There are 77 wines that make up this reference champagne. Well-structured,
tonic, elegant and long, Cordon Rouge sums up the spirit, know-how and dynamism
of the Mumm Champagne house. Each component of the blend adds distinction to
this cuvee. Pinot Noir (45%), rounded and full, structures this blend with
strength and power. Fruitiness, liveliness and a rustic feel are provided by
Pinot Meunier (25%). Chardonnay (30%) gives this champagne all its finesse and
elegance. All the richness and finesse of the Mumm vineyard is expressed in
Cordon Rouge. In the late nineteenth century, this champagne was decorated with
the famous red ribbon, as a tribute to the Légion d'Honneur. In their new
finery, the bottles were presented to Mumm's best customers. The decoration
became the hallmark of one of the world's most renowned champagnes, Mumm Cordon
Rouge!

Mumm Rose Brut Champagne
Mumm Rosé is an original cuvée which combines all the nuance and finesse of
Cordon Rouge with the power and fruitiness of Pinot Noir. Its substance is
Cordon Rouge, while its clear color, a mixture of amber and crimson, is provided
by the red wine of Bouzy, made with Pinot Noir grapes. With its finesse and
elegance, Mumm Rosé has charmed and delighted the most discerning of Mumm
connoisseurs since the very creation of the House in 1827. Its delicacy and
smoothness have given it the rare privilege of being one of the best-loved
champagnes among women. A complex, fresh, distinguished, powerful blend in
which the Pinot Noir stands out. Pinot Noir (60%) provides not only color, but
also strength and personality. Pinot Meunier (18%) contributes all its
liveliness and exceptional fruitiness to this cuvée. The finesse and elegance
of the Chardonnay (22%) give this charming champagne its balance.

Mumm Demi-Sec Champagne
When Mumm was founded in 1827, the House immediately succeeded in matching the
way its champagnes tasted to its customers' wishes. At the time, sweet
champagne was very popular in France, as it was mainly drunk with desserts.
Now in the 21st century, Mumm still makes this Demi-Sec champagne with the
greatest respect for tradition. The intense pleasure this champagne offers is
the result of all the experience and know-how of the House. Both fresh and
smooth, Mumm Demi-Sec is the sweetest champagne made by the House, representing
the terroir and authenticity of Mumm, and has always been a favourite of
champagne-lovers the world over. A fruity blend of mature reserve wines in
generous dosages gives this Demi-Sec champagne all its variety and character.
The Pinot Meunier (50%) gives Mumm Demi-Sec fruitiness and intensity. The Pinot
Noir (35%) and the Chardonnay (15%) provide charm and depth. The reserve wines,
mainly comprised of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (25%), contribute maturity and
honeyed flavours. The final touch is the 44 grams of sugar mixed in with this
wine, ensuring perfect smoothness.

The fee for this Event is $60 all-inclusive, for reservations call 954-523-9463

Weeknights are terrible for traveling down to Fort Lauderdale. Otherwise, I would be tempted to go.

Hypothetically speaking and without the slightest chance of attending either event, if I had to pick one, I would love to go to a Henriot tasting dinner, even though it's twice the price. Frown

Grun, I might be able to arrange a dinner in Berkley or Napa in August. I'll talk to Jennifer about a dinner later this week.
