PH,

You can move me to the IN-crowd!
I was not very clear in my previous post on this. I will be there (DV). We are not sure if we will come both of us, as we will also spend our summer holiday in Tuscany. Hence the +1 as being 'likely'.

Is there a plan as to what location we are aiming for?
I will be in Tuscany in three weeks time and again in July. I will be happy to do some ground work.
Mail me at albert at jochems dot com.

KSC02, are you the organizer for this event since you're handling the attendance list? Wink If so, let's work on a date next and I'll email a place to check availability.

Places and appropriate airports. BCN for Priorat and probably PSA for Tuscany. But in the brief investigation I have done, it looks like careful planning will be essential. If there enough people going point to point (BCN to PSA) we might even be able to get some group airfare.

If someone must be, I'll volunteer. I'm sure I'll have plenty of support from you all. Wink

I'll email you over the weekend WIML and albert. I'd think sometime during the month of May would be a good time. Springtime in Tuscany. Beat the tourist rush and hot Summer.

KSC02,

I agree that May is a good time to travel to Tuscany. But you still need to be in time to make reservations. More people tend to think of it as being a good time to spend some time there!

Since last year there are also flights to Grosseto airport (GRS) this is quite conveniently placed for the southern part of Tuscany (Maremma, Monte Amiata, Montalcino).

You got it. I'm sure I can speak for wine+art, futronic, Longboarder, etc... that we can all pitch in at various points to help plan.

First things first...let's set a date and see who can still make that date. After that, we can start contacting accommodations and then restaurants.

I'll be in Tuscany in 8 weeks and scout around for accommodations and venues. I understand that the Guado al Tasso of Antinori is breathtaking and great food.
I'll post further upon my return.

DoktaP - Check out Fonte de Medici while you are in Tuscany. This is the only Antinori property I am aware of. Also, the Osteria di Passignano, which is also owned by the Antinori family, is about 2-3 kilometers from the villas at the Fonte. In my opinion, a great venue for this event.

WIML, that sounds perfect and you have my help. A May trip to Italy sounds great. I'll be done with my program after the first week of that month and can't think of a nicer graduation present.

Love both places! Cool

While only a few kilometers away, it is a longgg dark drive back. Wink

They look great! And, they can accommodate large groups. I'm starting to smell something...

Jeez, I don't know how I missed this!

I would very much like to be included, unless you all feel that there are already too many Canadian entries.

I promise not to bring any Okanagan Sangiovese.

Looks like we have a good potential hotel and venue. I'd say let's pick two sets of dates and contact the hotel first, restaurant second for availability on both sets.

Suggestions?

100% included. Given the inevitable dropout factor for this event, I'm quite sure there will be room for you. No such thing as too many Canadiens. Wink

Keeping up with 'the list' is most of the work so far. The reality check will hit in a few months when it's time to start collecting. Wink

W+A had a good outlook. No 'limits' for this one. Give the rein and let this one go. So... let's see where this all ends up. We'll start to organize some basics offline and get a consortium.

This thing is picking up momentum. Cool Big Grin
