Anyone want to volunteer their place, or have hook-ups with a restaurant that will allow BYOB? If it gets desperate, we can use the clubhouse at my apartment complex.

BTW, I forget, who hooked us up with the Centre Street Cafe in JP? That was a cool place.

Guys, My connection at Centre Street is Felicia (Owner/Our Server ). I'm sure if someone was to ask her to host another wine dinner she would do it. Call her and say your as friend of James Stahl from the Old Inn On The Green in the Berkshires. If you would like me to call to set the dinner up I can do that for the sake of my fellow forumites. Cheers

Anyone else have any ideas for a place to meet? If not, I think the Centre Street place was great.

She was the Owner? Wow.

Well, I guess...they're still a bit miffed about the whole "move him to Boston, then he quit" thing.

Hey all,
I just saw on Phantom Gourmet about a place called Big Mamou in Springfield. It's a bit of a drive out there, but it is BYOB. Anyone been there??

Hey Redwine&Redsox,

Are you going to the Fed still or did you bag out? Did you check on the Herb Lycium in Groton?

I bagged out on the Fed...couldn't swing the $$$, plus wine unfortunately. I haven't checked out the Herb Lyceum for the WS event. Anyone have connections there? I have been there before, and it was wonderful.

You do not need connections. They allow BYOB. Just call and make reservations. They are only open Fri and Sat nights and offer a fixed menu and are limited to 32 people each night.

redwine&redsox-too bad you are not going to make it to the Federalist. I know it is expensive but this may be a once in a lifetime Boston tasting as the restaurant does not normally allow BYO. They are allowing us to have it in their wine cellar. Many consider the Fed to be Boston's top restaurant and I have tasted all the things on the menu we planned and the courses are all truely spectacular. People are going to bring their top wines. The Fed is one of 3 WS Grand award winners in the state of MA and the will do up the wine service right. Considering the usual cost of food there, the all inclusive price (tax, gratuity) is not insane. The corkage comes out to about $11 per person and most people are bringing multiple bottles. You may want to reconsider.

Course 1

Ahi Tuna Tartar, soy miso emulsion, japanese sweet potato chips

Course 2

Truffled Rigatoni and Cheeses (chevre, gruyere, gouda), summer truffle fondue

Course 3

Greens of Baby Lettuce, warm feta, nicoise olives, crisp fingerling potato, sherry vinaigrette

Course 4

Pecorino Crusted Maine Scallops, roasted exotic mushrooms, white polenta tortellini, english pea emulsion

-or-

Duo of Prime Aged Ribeye and Braised Shortribs, scallion potato croquettes, bordelaise sauce

Course 5

Chocolate Cake, chocolate mousse, praline ice cream, cappuccino sauce

Oh, trust me...I want to be there. We just can't afford $350 for a dinner, plus wine right now. Fortunately, we are starting to be in circles that have some wonderful people, and there will be many fantastic opportunities to dine with y'all in the future. Just going to have to sit this round out.

So, are we all still getting together on that Friday night??

Let me pose this question...would most of y'all prefer to go to a restaurant, or bring potluck food to a non-restaurant setting?
