I'm assuming that we will all bring a main for our entree (BBQ)and a side to share with the group? Something like 3-7Pm or there abouts? We don't want Happy to do all the heavy lifting AND have us hang around all night! What do you think?

Hmm... I think a broad category would be fun. I especially like the Bordeaux varietals from anywhere, but I'm also open to pretty much anything.

T'net, do you have most everyone's email addr's? We could get this nailed down via evite.
Wow, that's generous on the mains! Thanks! Unexpected and very cool. I think I have the email for most. Do you want me to set something up on Evite? Or would you like to? For theme: I say let the host and hostess decide!

Thank you for hosting beyond expectations. Looking forward to this.
What wines will be involved? I would agree Tanglenet, let the generous host and hostess decide.

Juicy, glad you can make it. You've been pretty quiet lately. It will be good to check in with you.

On the theme,I dug through the archives and here is the recent East Bay offline history:

So, here are some options. Please let me know your choice and majority will rule I dug through the archives and here is the East Bay offline history:

So, here are some options. Please let me know your choice and majority will rule:
All Bordeaux Varietals from anywhere
Anything from Bordeaux
Merlot and Merlot Blends
All Rhone Varietals from anywhere
Syrah
Sangiovese and Sangiovese Blends
Once we have a consensus I will start a new thread titled East Bay Offline VI with the details

1st of all, I'm in! Second of all, re: preferences... In descending order, I would like: 1) All Rhone varietals from anywhere 2) Sangiovese and Sangiovese blends 3) All Bordeaux varietals from anywhere 4) Anything from Bordeaux 5) Merlot and Merlot blends The truth is, I have an active disslike of Australian Shiraz, which does make my number 1 a little dangerous. But, as long as this doesn't become a Shiraz tasting, I'd be fine with pretty much anything. Almost certainly, I'll be bringing something old world and probably rustic.

My vote goes to Rhone Varietals from anywhere. I love all the grapes and I think it would be interesting to compare the grapes/blends from all the different possible regions.

I'm low on Rhone so will selfishly pick Sangiovese and S blends.

So, it looks like it's Sangiovese? I think I have some Beaucastel's in off site storage...

Ooohh, Syrah, tanglenet's favorite. I'm always happy to pull a Northern or Southern Rhone wine, but if tanglenet needs a vote to support his Sangio kick, I'll toss one his way. Looking forward to taking an afternoon off and tip a glass or two with all.
