I'll be in Buffalo until June 20 and may find myself in Toronto (actually probably Markham or Vaughan) some weekend in June. Possibly May as well or instead, but more likely June. Mrs. bman may or may not accompany.

I have the whole summer to myself ... plus you're the only one out of everyone on the board that I've actually met before Smile

I'd definitely be up for it.

Count me in if it doesn't conflict with my call schedule.

I'd love to get together. Any chance of a weeknight?

I'm afraid not, since I need to be at our office in Buffalo by 9am each weekday morning. I could spit the wines I taste, but I've never been able to do consistently (or at all, really! Big Grin).

It could be a Friday night perhaps, though. How far a drive is Buffalo to Markham (I know Chez Splat is a TWC favourite) or downtown?

With no traffic and no border holdups, Buffalo to Markham is about 2 hours doing 120. If you take the 407 (about $25 without the transponder), you could shave another 15-20 minutes. Downtown will be slightly less than 2 hours. If Chez Splat is where I think it is, (Hwy 7 and Kennedy/Warden?) That's another 15 minutes. It's a nontrivial strech of Hwy 7 you have to take.

My dates are beginning to firm up a bit.

I'll be in Toronto (Markham, actually) for sure Saturday/Sunday 24/25 May though I'm not certain that I'll be able to offline either of those nights. Might be there Friday May 23 too.

Every other weekend from 16/17 May to 13/14 June is currently a possibility as well.

bman,

Be careful that your visit doesn't happen during the long (May two-four) weekend or attendance will likely be very low.

No worries, it won't be that weekend.

Actually, since clearly no one here believes in too much of a good thing ( Wink), I may now be able to come to Toronto twice to offline. Either Friday May 23 or Sunday May 25 could be possible, as well as a weekend in June. It's my father's birthday that May weekend and plans are still being finalized, but either of those dates are currently a possibility.

Sundays are always easiest, but Friday the 23rd is not a problem at all.

Let's get this thing in stone :P

Ok, how does Friday May 23 work? I can still do it Sunday May 25 but let's go with the Friday date, for now at least, based on the replies above. Notwithstanding the actual date, this is the weekend after the 24 May long weekend holiday.

I've tentatively booked a hotel downtown but can stay anywhere (or at any Marriott, to be specific), and would prefer to be within walking or TTC distance if possible. The floor is now open to restaurant and wine theme reccomendations....

Since the date is now in May, and the title of this thread says June, I'd like to either change the title (not sure how to do that Roll Eyes) or start a new thread. I may be back in June in any case but for now only this May weekend is certain.

bman,

If you edit your initial post, you can change the thread name.

As for the date, I should be okay with that.

Who wants to book the restaurant? I'm assuming that a downtown selection would be preferred?

I am unable to attend. I'm on call at the hospital that night. My thoughts will be with you, but my a$$ will be somewhere in ER.

mavbabe and I return from our honeymoon in Italy just in time.

Count us in. I could make arrangements at six steps restaurant if you like.

Thanks fut, I just did the needful.

Downtown works for me, but somewhere in Vaughan or Markham or near the airport would probably work nearly as well. I want to be close enough to walk or take the TTC or a short cab ride and I need to stay at a Marriott property, but it could be virtually any one of them. I'll be in Markham or Vaughan Saturday as I have a family event in Newmarket Saturday night and I may stay over Sunday as well since it's a long weekend in Buffalo.

Speaking of which, Dok or anyone else who cannot make it on Friday, any chance you'd be free on Sunday? My liver should have recovered from Friday's offline by then! Big Grin
