We have a full cellar down there and will be bringing another case with us. Let me know what type of wine you'd like. I'll be there a week before the offline, so even if it's something I bring with me, it can stand upright undisturbed for a week.

Just one more sip.

OK, folks, it is time to commit. We are a little over 2 weeks out, so if you have not given a definite yes or no, now is the time.

One for sure and two (my wife) provided we can get a baby sitter. I'll confirm her as soon as that's finalized. Any type of theme on the wine or is it just bring good stuff?

MLV & JC
Board-O (2)
Chilepepper (2)
Redknife (1, maybe 2)
Vinole (1, maybe 2)
Emilio (2)
Inky (2)?
EDJ (2)

Great - glad Mrs. Chile can make it too! If you have not confirmed on this thread (Inky, EDJ) please do so asap and we will get directions and whatnot out to everybody.

As for the theme for the wine, we don't seem to have one, so just bring something good! We will provide some bubbly to start and some other stuff too depending on what we need.

Edited to remove Rothko from the list, as he confirmed that they will not be able to make it.

It's about time, MA! Now where's gary44? Mlv, this may be getting kind of large. A restaurant will be fine. Don't hesitate to select one.

Just one more sip.

Somebody should have nudged me earlier. I'm absolutely in for 2.

I would be happy to assist with any dishes, or man the BBQ etc. Please don't hesitate to ask, as 16-20+ can be a bear to serve while you're trying to have a good time.

Just curious, are you thinking grilling, catering finger foods, cooking...?

Catering never occurred to me, but honestly cooking for 10 or 20 is all the same to me - a few more vegetables, a few extra pounds of fish... no big deal.

Right now I am planning on a fairly simple menu of some hors d'oerves, then dinner of some type of salad with an abundance of grilled vegetables, pasta course (TBD), some type of fish with a few sauces, cheese course and something chocolatey to finish.

We will see how the menu finally shakes out as we get a little closer. Plus, I think my parents are coming, too, and my mother is the best cook ever, so undoubtedly she will be doing some as well.

So now we are at:
MLV & JC
Board-O (2)
Chilepepper (2)
Redknife (1, maybe 2)
Vinole (1, maybe 2)
Emilio (2)
Inky (2)?
EDJ (2)
MiamiAtty (2)

A total of 14 definites and a few maybes.

Oooops!

1988 Beaucastel and 1975 Gruaud Larose are the wines I'm bringing, for the following reasons:

1. Jc mentioned 4 of the wines and these two are the most ready, imo.

2. The 1988 Beaucastel is not likely to get much better, imo.

3. The post at Jul 02, 2007 11:20 PM

Just one more sip.

sounds great...and I was of course kidding about Grenache anyway since I love the stuff..but those sound like amazing choices. Will be nice to try a wine from my birth decade on what practically will be my birthday!
