Our flight leaves for LAX at 1:10 from O'hare (I know, sucks) and lands around 3pm IIRC. But I'm not flying up north, I will drive up either later Sunday or Monday morning.

How much more did that run you to fly into Santa Maria?

Well, I'm not flying out till after 6pm. Don't really know how much more it was since I never priced out to LAX only...but needless to say it was cheaper than trying to fly into SLO and its closer to Nipomo as well...my destination.

What're you up to in Nipomo? Do you live there?

FYI,

If my memory is not on the blink, in the early days of film, C.B. Demille shot the "Ten Commandments" there. I believe parts of his sets are buried in the dunes.

Yes, I heard about the place...I will definitely need to go there. My company is in the Ag industry...so rural is where it needs to be. Heck...its why I work 30 miles south of Tampa in BFE...cause you don't put up Greenhouses in downtown Big Grin

Alright, I made a couple of phone calls, here's the skinny.

I figure we're talking about 7 hours worth of bus time (7pm leaving, returning at 1am with an hour cushion to get us home on the back end). The cost per person is somewhere in the $25-30 range total both ways, depending on what type of bus we end up needing and how many people. I can't start figuring out one-way costs based on someone only wanting to go one way and take a cab home early or late or whatever.

I would like to hear from the crowd at this point: Are you all still in? Keep in mind you can probably get a cab from downtown for about $50-$60 (I asked Otis) which would be about the same total price if 4 people share ($120/4), but the problem might become finding enough suburban cabs at 1am that want to take us all downtown (I don't know how that works in the burbs). If we hire a bus the bus sits with us for the evening, basically parked nearby. Last time we did this the driver was a little antsy to get going, but it worked out ok.

Please chime in now with consent or dissent! I'll book early next week if I hear back from enough people.

I agree...trying to get us all back via cabs at 1am....4 people at a time seems difficult. We are still in for the bus

We're in for 2. Not sure if we can make it to 1, but will pay for both ways if we catch a cab back.

Thx for all the work!

MLV and Jcocktosten in for 2 both ways - Thanks Grossie - For what its worth, if I recall, getting cabs for the pick up back to town after the CDP last time was a pain so having this taken care of is a great plan

Grossie,

My 2 friends who live down the street from you would be interested in the bus. I'll send them an email to confirm.

Is one of the stops going to be at your home?
