When do you plan to book this Grossie?

I'm still not sure what I'm doing for arrangements that night...either a hotel near Otis or staying with friends in the city. Put me down for 2 as I'm guessing that will stay in the city.

Please put me down for 2 on the magic bus Grossie. Thanks for arranging this again, but make sure you don't get left holding the bag for anything this time.

ktf (2) if they make it off the wait list (estimate that at 50/50 at this point based on past experiences)

WOW! That's quite a list. 37 people thus far. I think the big rigs can carry about 40-42, so hopefully we get very close to that number without going over.

I'll start inquiring at the end of this week or beginning of next and get back to you all with more info.

How long is the bus ride to Chateau Otis? Perhaps an official CDP shuttle tasting? Big Grin

Just kidding- I know we are in for the long haul! Should be an interesting ride, or an interesting ride back!

I'm thinking many may not recall the ride back!

We've done a shuttle tasting before, but it's probably not all that necessary. In fact I will try to turn down wine on the way there, and I probably won't remember the way back, as Wine + Art alluded to.

So far I have it at 37 + 4 possibles. I'm going to start calling around next week, hopefully I'll have more info.

We were not on the big shuttle 2 CDPs ago. Last time, MLV and I, rode out with Emilio, KSC, Steve8 and wives/girlfriends. We did not have a tasting but didn enjoy a bottle of champagne on the ride out.

How far is it from downtown to CDPs? What time are we going to, and coming back from CDPs? I am interested in the bus, but am flying out the next morning and don't want to be out until the weeeee hours of the a.m. Any ball park ideas on times? I suggest we leave no later than 6 hours after arrival. For example, if we arrive at 7pm, we leave no later than 1am. thoughts?

Ray-

the rates will depend on the number of hours for the total trip. There will be a sweet spot on the hours we need the bus after which it will likely become very expensive. The hours you suggest are probably about right. I'll be doing this this week, more info to follow.

I have to question your judgment though about flying out the next morning. It is my experience that it takes a few hours to recover from an event such as Otis's CDP. I couldn't imagine getting out of bed before about 11am, much less getting on an airplane!

Keep in mind there are taxis that can be had from the suburbs to downtown Chicago. Last time we did this several people opted for that on the way home. It is 26 miles from the Renaissance to Otis's house. Taxis charge per mile, but the rates double when you leave the city limits (about half way there). Perhaps Otis could give us a taxi cost estimate.

TO ALL:

THE PRICE FOR THIS SHUTTLE WILL BE FOR 2 WAY TRANSPORTATION. THERE WILL BE NO DISCOUNT IF YOU DON'T TAKE IT HOME WITH THE GROUP. I want to be pretty clear on this. Last time I took a bath on the payment for the shuttle. This time it's cash on the barrel when you walk on going to Otis's. I don't have pricing yet, I won't make any commitments before clearing it with the group as I don't feel right spending other people's money without their consent.

Grossie - It will now be Longboarder flying solo. The bride will not be able to join us. I will let Otis know on the official list thread.

Danny, if you are flying through LAX on Sunday evening, we might be able to have a hangover party...as I'm flying into Santa Maria through LAX on Sunday.

Our flight leaves for LAX at 1:10 from O'hare (I know, sucks) and lands around 3pm IIRC. But I'm not flying up north, I will drive up either later Sunday or Monday morning.

How much more did that run you to fly into Santa Maria?

Well, I'm not flying out till after 6pm. Don't really know how much more it was since I never priced out to LAX only...but needless to say it was cheaper than trying to fly into SLO and its closer to Nipomo as well...my destination.
