Due to some solid, initial feedback, the challenge of the millennium could be underway soon. It appears the venerable PurpleHaze can cook a mean pot of lamb stew. I have been known (not by anybody on these boards) to cook a glorious pot of lamb stew as well. Whose is better? Such a question can only be settled by a good, old-fashioned throwdown.
So ask yourself this: "are you ready for a throwdown?" If the answer is "yes," let's get a date on the calendar and start planning my victory party. . .

Mmmm, lamb and cheescake. Who needs anything else, except wine of course?
I'm in, if DC or DC area is the chosen location.
PH, are you going to call home field/kitchen advantage and have it at your place? I could always offer up Casa Klym, if needed. The kitchen is adequate, no?

Actually, it sounds like a blast. Although I'm not sure how this could even compare to the infamous grunhauser - DJ Hombre throwdown, it would be fun to do an East Coast cookoff.
As a few of you might know, I've been a man of leisure over the past months, and I'm glad to have some serious employment opportunities on the horizon. The ONLY thing that could get in the way of something like this would be........ work. In the event that an immediate challenge cannot be accepted, I reserve the right to defer the throwdown for a few months! Details to follow.
In the meantime:

Uh..... yeah! Although I'd rather take you on in veal or lamb shanks or my current favorite, short ribs! I'll gladly whup you with lamb. Actually, I could probably beat your lamb with my goat!!

Difficult to pull that move when the throwdown was "thrown down" down there.... Your place would be MORE than adequate, if the crowd wasn't too large. Your kitchen is spectacular.

Best of luck with the interviews! I certainly hope things go well. I will stand, Dutch oven ready, awaiting the challenge. If we need to defer for a few months, it would not be a problem for me at all. I am actually supposed to be studying right now. . .

I'll take you on in lamb shanks. Maybe that will be Round II.

When I issued the throwdown, I was assuming that I would need to travel and give PH home field advantage. I will be happy to come to D.C./VA/MD. Unfortunately, my meager kitchen would be inadequate for the event and my location. In a addition, my location is horribly inconvenient for everyone. If you don't mind us temporarily taking over your house, it would be an honor to cook in your "Kitchen Stadium."

Board-O: You should come down. You could teach us a thing or two about properly aged Chateauneufs. I think I might be a better learner if I had some samples to try
PH: Keep us posted on the job front. I sincerely hope that things work out. I also hope that we can get together and do this. Should be a lot of fun.

Thought I would revive this old thread. As the dog days of summer continue here in NC, I find myself eagerly awaiting the arrival cool weather, football, and fall food. I would still be very much open to doing this (if PH hasn't totally wussed out). Problem is my fall schedule is quite packed right now with weddings, chili cookoffs, football games, backpacking trips and such. Therefore, would anyone be interested in doing something in the winter when a hearty bowl of lamb stew and a glass of Chateauneuf will be a comforting cure to the winter doldrums? I am thinking January or February. I know this is crazy early, but this will give everyone adequate time to plan. Thoughts??? I am proposing the weekends of January 15-17 or February 12-14 as starting points. I think this will be a lot of fun. Hope it works out.

Just what I'd need. The post-cigartte habit metabolism crash weight gain has proven an uphill battle to put it mildly. Just now beginning to get under control, we'll plan to keep it that way, thanks.
