Usually the Vintages events are complete rip-offs, but this one looks quite intriguing. Dinner at George restaurant on Queen St. with d'Arenberg winemaker Chester Osborn.

The event is entitled "The Are of Being Different" and the wines being poured are:

The Stump Jump Riesling/Sauvignon Blanc/Marsanne 2004
The Stump Jump Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre 2004
The Dry Dam Riesling 2004
The Olive Grove Chardonnay 2004
The Bonsai Vine Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre 2001
The Laughing Magpie Shiraz/Viognier 2004
The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
The Dead Arm Shiraz 2003
Vintage Fortified Shiraz 2001

More details can be found here. I'd be interested in going if we could put a little group together. Anyone else in?

Slan,

Sounds like fun. I'd be interested and I agree with you regarding the price. I thought this would be $200+ like most of the other winemaker dinners. $125 is a great deal provided the food is good.

I'd like to go. Looks like there's three of us so far. I've never been to one of these Vintages-sponsored dinners -- does anyone know how quickly they tend to sell out? Perhaps we should give it a couple more days to see if others are interested and then order our tickets.

We need to book this week. There are 36 tickets left out of 100 total. Vintages is thinking about sending out a 'V-Mail' on this and if they do, it will be sold out within hours according to my contact.

As soon as DoktaP knows if he can attend, we should get this booked ASAP.

Unfortunately, I am on-call and unable to attend. Mondays are usually no good for me.

Dok, That sucks. I'll get Chester's autograph for you. Big Grin

I am booked.

There are under 30 seats left and all tables have reserved seating. Hopefully we can all sit together. My ticket is under Sharpe and you need to let them know there is someone you would like to sit with.

Basecadet, Did you book under your regular last name but a different first name? If so, I reserved a seat next to you.

Fut,

Aren't you the guy who spends weeks each year co-ordinating the logistics of a strategy to maximize your Dead Arm allocation? Razz

Yeah, Futronic! After me, you are likely D'Arenberg's 2nd biggest customer in Ontario.

Yes, I know you would be considered more of a distributor, but still... Razz Big Grin

I prefer the term "Dead Arm Pimp," but sadly, I think I'm going to retire that title. I find it highly unlikely that I'll buy any 2003 Dead Arm, nor any vintage after that, unless I'm helping another TWC member out.

I will keep buying it for old times sake but in much smaller quantities.

Still great juice for $50CAD.

Anyone else interested?

I just taked to Vintages and the dinner is sold out.

I put my name on a long waiting list just in case anyone else wants to attend and more tickets come available. I wouldn't hold my breath as the tickets are non-refundable and the room is at capacity.

A second night is being considered but unlikely.

Damn. I just saw this today, and I'm probably in the top 50 in Ontario for number of D'Arenberg products consumed. I should check this forum more often I guess.

By the way, I haven't seen this posted anywhere else, but there's already been a small amount of the 03 Dead Arm released in Ontario. It came out mixed in with the July tranche of the '02. I was lucky enough to grab a single bottle, but I doubt I'll do anything with it before the general release in the fall, anyhow.

Booth,

Any idea where I can pick up a couple of bottles of the '03 Dead Arm?
