I will be in Ann Arbor for a day and a half next week. Any of the Detroit area formuites interested in getting together on Tuesday night for some dinner and wine? Doesn't need to be Ann Arbor, I will be mobile. Let me know.

I'll try but it might not work out. Unfortunately, I will not know for sure until the day of the 19th. Bez, can you handle the arrangements?

Any suggestions Bez? Are other cities in the Detroit area more BYOW friendly? As long as it's not 2 hours from Ann Arbor I can get there.

Staying at the Hampton, which is right off 23. The art fair must be downtown and I'll be leaving Wednesday morning anyway.

I have no issues with twins or dogs, but a lot of wine and a 35 min drive afterwards could be one. Especially if Slapshot is there Eek Big Grin
Let's make it moderate wine consumption and I'm in. Wink

Judging by your posts, you are a big Cali red wine guy so I won't bother trying to bring any of those. You like Italian? Send me an e-mail swooden at sympatico dot ca.

It is looking like I will be available but I can't be sure until probably the evening of the 18th at best but maybe not until the 19th. I would not mind hosting since we are only about 25 minutes from where Steve will be staying but like I said, I just can't be sure yet. And no way would I let you guys in my cellar if I'm not there!

Bez: I am going to plan on attending but if I have to beg off please understand. My honey says we have 24 tenderloin steaks that need eaten so we'll bring enough for everyone. I'll help you cook them...you cook, I'll pour wine and watch. Is it just going to be the five of us. Steve, are you bringing anyone?

What's the front page story?

Thanks to Bez and L for hosting a great dinner, meeting the in-laws and seeing Slapshot and L again. The wines (I hope I remember correctly)

2000 HdV Chardonnay
2003 Pride Cab Franc
1998 Caprili Brunello
1998 Elderton Command
2001 Paloma Merlot
1998 Kracher #6 (#8?)
NV Pride Mistelle de Viognier (?)

Really hard to pick one. I liked the Pride, Kracher, Elderton and Paloma equally. All were superb. The HdV was excellent too. Not over-oaked.

See you next time.

Thanks napacat. Any little cats yet?

Bez and Steve: Thanks! Great evening. Very enjoyable and exactly what I needed. A little relaxation after several weeks of ...ugh...hard work. Roll Eyes Bruce...you the man...OK, you the chef. Very good. Always good to see Steve. Good conversation and good wine. I agree, hard to pick the best of the night.
Bez. I like your in-laws. They are always welcome at my house too...if you want to bring them. Of course he does Lynn.
