Hi everyone, after speaking with JBurman and MiamiWineNovice, we decided to put together a short notice offline for this weekend. The details are as follows:

Saturday, October 10th
3030 Ocean at the Marriot
3030 Holiday Drive
Fort Lauderdale, FL

Time is TBD, I propose 8:30PM.

Corkage is TBD, I'm waiting to get a head count so I can haggle.

We'd prefer the dinner to be themeless.

If you're interested please let me know ASAP so I can make the reservation no later than Thursday.

Cheers!

Already going to a blind tasting at someone's house that night - it is a good place although we have not been there in a while. Excellent tuna appetizer served in a coconut - only drawback is the openness of the bar to the dining area so the tvs are very present and the hotel feel.

Will MiamiWineNovice show or not, that is the question Razz

I'm going, I'm going!

MWNette and I will be there. A Boston boy can't miss seafood like that.

The offline ended up being just me, my wife, Jorge and his date. Jorge took the notes but here is a list of what we had and what I recall off the top of my head:

1991 BV Georges Des Latour
1995 Cos
2004 BV Clone 4
2000 Cardinale

The BV Latour gave me a ton of black pepper but I always get that from older cali cabs. Definitely past its peak but not bad either.

The Cos still has some room to run. I opened the cork about 2 hours before we actually drank it. Wasnt able to decant it in our hotel room though. Not as much of the barnyard as I usually get. It was present but not overpowering. Hints of mushroom and earth. Very well balanced. This was my wine of the night.

The Clone 4 was suprisingly a very close second for me. I found it also was well balanced. Not overextracted or too much alcohol.(I dont know the actually percentage so it could have been high but it didnt taste like it)Nice smooth tannins. A little chocolate on the back end wrapped it up nicely

The Cardinale a bit flawed. I got that candied sweetness that comes with a cooked wine. It wasnt overpowering so it wasnt cooked that long but it was there. Not a horrible wine but not very good either. Glad we opened it last when we didnt really care.

Restaurant was great. Phenomenal food and service. I had the sauteed red snapper in a carrot and cumin suace on top a yukon gold puree. My wife had the apricot glazed mahi. Both dishes were excellent.

Spent Sat night in the hospital with an extremely horrible back problem. Got an epidural today to alleviate the pain. Sorry I missed it.
