I was having a few second thoughts on the Reisling, so I "went-a-shopping" and came up with a 2003 Alto Adige Classico Terlaner Pinot Bianco. I haven't popped one yet, so I make no claims!

Care to experiment with it?

Sounds like a plan Gf. cometspider, don't sweat the Italian angle. Bring whatever works for you!

hey guys!
Down in florida for a couple days. Shot a 95 on an easy course. Pretty lousy, but it was 82 degrees. I'll be back Wed night.
Currently sipping a 1997 Bertani Amarone d'ella Valpolicella at my in-laws.
I wouldn't sweat the Italian white situation either.

Thanks for sharing Irwin!

Last night as the temps dropped like a rock, I got to enjoy high winds and a heavy snow squall all during a thunder and light show. Gotta love Maryland winters!

I hate to do this at such a late hour, but I'll be solo as well. The wife has decided to take the kids to a friend's house for dinner on Sunday. I can't understand how chicken nuggets, kool-aid, and a house full of screaming kids can comptete with osso bucco and a wine of mystery and intrigue, but I've stopped trying to figure out how my wife thinks years ago.

While traveling this week, I found a bottle of Solaria Jonica vin santo. I've never had a vin santo before, but hopefully it'll be a good complement with dessert. I'll be happy to bring that along with the Flaccianello if you'd like.

See you all Sunday!

I searched the cellar last night. Here are my best (ready-ish to drink) options for Sunday night:

1997 Pio Cesare Barolo
1997 Antinori Tignanello
or a non-Italian white of similar quality

any requests??

Here's one vote for another red. I'd rather drink water with the tuna than decline an opportunity to taste either of these wines! SmileJust one wino's opinion....

Festiva - Me like Vin Santo! Cool

I've got a nice bottle of Prosecco to either start things off, or to have with the tuna.

for the record, the February 2006 issue of Baltimore magazine has a listing of their "50 best restaurants in Baltimore". They include, among others:
Tersiguels
Cafe de Paris
Rooster Cafe
and
Linwoods
These are the sites of our dinners. Apparently, the editors are following us around.

Current attendees and wine potentials:

Gentleman Farmer (2003 Alto Adige Classico Terlaner Pinot Bianco; 1998 La Fornace Brunello di Montalcino; 2002 Chateau St. Michelle "Eroica" )
Purple Haze (1995 Ricardo Fenocchio Barolo Pianpolvere Soprano; Prosecco to start)
Festiva (Solaria Jonica Vin Santo; 1994 Flaccianello)
Comet Spider (1997 Pio Cesare Barolo,
1997 Antinori Tignanello or a non-Italian white of similar quality)
Irwin (2000 La Grola Allegrini-Veronese; Villa Lanata Moscato d'Asti; "mystery bottle"
Ms. Irwin (tentative)

This sounds like a lot of wine to me.

...was thinking the very same thing Irwin, but imagine how the photo lineup will look! (The wine that is - previous photos undoubtedly attest to the suave and debonair attributes of our august panel) Big Grin

Howdy! I've got everyone's wine in hand for tomorrow night, so just to make sure I don't screw things up, I wanted to confirm everyone's 'orders':

Purple Haze: 3 x 2002 Le Cadeau

Comet Spider: 3 x 2003 Le Cadeau; 1 Delesvaux in exchange for 1 Carlisle Zin

Gentleman Farmer: 3 x 2002 Le Cadeau; 2 Delesvaux

Let me know if this is correct. Hopefully you'll see this before I head up to dinner tomorrow night. See you all soon!

Just floating an idea:
My wife will be out of town on Sat. 2/18. Frown

How is that Saturday night for the next Md. Offline? We can discuss this tonight if we remember, but in the meanwhile, you can consult your respective calendars.

Festiva. I think it was 3-2002's and 1-2003, but I'll be happy for whatever you bring. Cool Thanks again for taking care of this!

2-18 is clear for takeoff on my end.

Looking forward to seeing the gang tonight.
