January will soon be upon us, the the prospect of MD Offline #4 has been brought up. irwin has proposed an Italian Restaurant (as yet unnamed) in Owings Mills. It would be nice to try some Barolo, Barbaresco, Brunello or other nice Italian wines for a change of pace. Any interest?

I'm out of the loop for the weekend of January 14-15 to attend the 1997 Philly Brunello Offline, but the rest of the month is wide open for me.

before I ask the restaurant owner, I need to know if people will go to lower Owings Mills. We can talk about it on Dec. 18 at the Rooster Cafe at 6PM.

Count me in as well. I can't say I'm thrilled to have to drive more than 5 minutes to an offline, but I'm looking forward to switching countries! Wink

Depending on the date and time, throw Mrs. Festiva down as tentative.

Thanks!

As it stands, Saturday Jan. 28 is out for me (Terps v. Temple bus trip). Since we are developing a Sunday schedule, that shouldn't be a problem!

potentially the 22nd.
Festiva has requested a 7:15 start time, which would permit his wife to probably attend. Seems reasonable to me.
GF says he's in, as is PH, and what I need to do is verify that I can go, and try to talk my wife into it.
Also, I'll contact the restaurant and if it works with them, ask them to develop a menu (including o.b.)

please reserve Sunday night, the 22nd at 7:15. We have a tentative ok from the restaurant, with a private room, but the chef/owner asked me to get back to him after New Years. It's a busy time in his business, you know.

oops. and sorry.
We are going to Florida on 1/22 for a few days to visit my in-laws. Thus, I am out for 1/22.
GF is out for 1/28.
PH is out for 1/15.
The super bowl is 2/6 (which I personally don't care to watch, but I assume someone else does).
What now?

Dummy me. I think GF is ok on the 29th, and I have emailed him as to that. I'll just have to check with the boss.

OK: We are on for 1/29. The restaurant is Linwood's. 7PM. We will have a private room. He supplies the stemware. (I forgot to ask about decanters).
Linwood Dame (the chef) is preparing a tasting menu and will get back to me in the next few days. I have stressed to him how vital and urgent the inclusion of osso bucco is.
Linwood is a super guy and the restaurant is quite nice. The private room is very nice as well. For directions, etc., check out http://www.linwoods.com/linwoods/index.html

Outstanding, irwin! You are the king of MD restaurants. Can you quiz him a little about the quality of the stemware? The only minor fault I had with the Rooster Cafe were the glasses. If we're going to open some Barolo, we'll need proper Burgundy stems. I have no propblem bringing my own glassware, but will gladly escape that hassle if good stems are available at the restauraunt. TIA!! Smile

Guys,

I'm in, but the lady of the house is out. Do we have the whole universe of Italian wines from which to select?

Festiva, I found another 2002 Carlisle Zin in my basement. PM me if you are interested, and I'll bring it to the off-line.

Good news, cometspider (except the part about Mrs. cometspider, of course.) Hey, irwin! Any progress on the menu?

Glad to hear this is still going on. After feeling neglected and left out of the past two extravaganzas, Mrs. F is in. However, given the babysitting situation and the drive, we'll probably be a wee bit late to the festivities (around 7:30 or so). As such, I can't be counted on for the first wine of the night.

Since PH just returned from the Philly Brunello OL, I'm anxious to see what he recommends for this get together.

Comet, I'm definitely up for a trade of the Carlisle. I've only one bottle of the Delesvaux, but I'll see what I can dig up for you.

But, 1/29 is a definite. 7PM

I recommend Italian Wine! Razz Glad to hear Mrs. Festiva is coming. As far as wines, I think doing what we did at the Rooster (backing into wines based on the menu) would be a good way to go. Count on me for a Barolo to go with Osso Bucco, if the chef will make it. Heck, just count on me for a Barolo. Wink I'm sure it'll match something on the menu.

irwin - Can we just make it 7:30? I'd have to have Festiva and Mrs. miss any of the festivities or feel hurried.

I see no problem with 7:30. I'll double check with Linwood when we speak about the menu.

Irwin, I think you need to give up that lawyer thing and become a party planner full time! Thanks for being so accommodating! We appreciate it! If everyone else still wants to stick to 7 pm, though, we're happy to have you get a head start on us.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again. Thanks a lot!
