I'm thinking Zucca. How many for Friday? I'll make a reservation as soon as I have the numbers.

BTW, as for cheeses, all that food, PLUS cheese, PLUS souffle is probably a bit much, basecadet.

Based on the amount of food that is potentially being brought, I will try to keep the appetizers fairly light. I have one in mind that would require being matched with a sweet wine. I will be bringing a German Riesling Auslese unless anyone else had thier heart set on bringing a sweet wine that can be served as an aperitif.

I also like the idea of bringing a blind bottle. It is always a humbling experience but very educational.

basecadet- feel free to bring whatever you want.
For coffee- I have a Capresso 1000-
We can just load in your favourite
Beans (blend). If you want cheese,
go right ahead. Maybe a little port
at the very end.
baird(s) - Krispy cremes would go great with a
(Gunderlach) auslese. But you'd have
to drive to Richmond Hill. And, you
might have to treat my diabetic coma.
Futronic- you dog! Zucca without moi! Enjoy!
jcubed- any requests for main course or wines?
I'm thinking either steaks or veal chops
with some nicely aged Bordeaux'.

Dok, thank you. Looking forward to this. My wife will prepare the salad and make it dummy proof for me to assemble at your house.

Very excited about the "aged bordeaux". For the wine, I'll bring the 86 Lichine you picked up for me a few months ago along with a bottle of Champagne.

MW, great. You don't have to bring the Prieuer Lichine. I know you were saving it for another friend to share.
Just come along and have a good time.

DoktaP,

I will be bringing a brie/red pepper jelly concoction for the Riesling as well as 1 or 2 additional appetizers that are wine friendly. I will likely bring a 1995 or 1997 Napa Cab TBD as well.

DoktaP, does the Capresso take whole bean, or should I pre-grind? I'll be bringing one of my fave espresso blends, some biscotti to have with that and small sampling of a few cheeses (whatever's left will make a nice Sunday afternoon snack Wink ..maybe some Stilton for that port?

Dokta,

Are doing blind, or non-blind for the reds?

Blind would be fun. We can know what we've got and try to identify (single blind). Kinda like our first offline. What do you think?

Basecadet, sorry I didn't respond earlier. The Capresso takes whole bean or ground. I'd prefer the whole bean personally.

Dok, I'm happy to bring the Lichine .... it's in the cellar just asking to be opened! I got off easy with the salad so this bottle with a Champage as well is the least I can do.

Dok,

No preference for main course or wine. Your suggestion sounds perfect.

Blind reds also sounds fun.

DoktaP,

Blind works for me although I doubt I will repeat the 100% accuracy I had with Bordeaux from our first offline. Smile

I will be bringing 1-2 bottles of red in any case as well as the Riesling.

DoktaP,

When you get a chance, could you email me your address, and general directions from the Marriott Eaton Center? My email address is j-cubed1 at sbcglobal dot net.

Looking forward to this weekend. I picked up an aged Bordeaux to go with Saturday evening's theme. I'll bring an Italian wine for Friday's dinner.

Thanks,

J3

j3:

Since there are only three of us for dinner on Friday, it would be cool to just BBQ some meat at my place instead.

I'll shoot you an email later.

Also, I'll send you directions to the Marriott, since DoktaP is a north-of-Toronto know-nothing of Toronto kind of guy. Razz

futronic,

DoktaP mentioned something about sharing a taxi from my hotel to his place with you and basecadet. If so, I'm in on that.

Also, email me your address and directions to your place for Friday night. I'll drive there. Any wine theme?

Thanks,

J3

J3:

Incoming email with all the details for Friday. Sharing a cab from your hotel on Saturday is no problem. We'll arrange for a flat rate and go from there. Basecadet is surely in as well, so it will be quite reasonable to get there and back.

As for wine on Saturday, I'll be bringing a bottle of 1997 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, in hopes that it will show better than it did this past weekend in Windsor.
