See what you guys can do to help indybob with his cough syrup palate. We don't want him embarrassing himself if he moves back to San Diego.

For those attending the CDP, there is a dinner which has been planned the day before the CDP. If you are going to be in town on Friday, August 10th and are interested in attending that dinner, you can go to this link and sign up.

One month to go before Otis' 4th CDP. You would think he would be running out of wine after all of his diminishment parties but luckily for all of us he just keeps reloading.

Early in this thread I mentioned that I had a surprise in mind that I was working on with Otis. This seems like a good time to disclose it. Among the 70+ bottles at the CDP will be a bottle of wine that I have contributed which was rated between 98-100 points by the Wine Advocate. Otis and I are going to serve this blind by decanting the wine out of the bottle that it came in and into another bottle. Nobody will know the identity of the 98-100 point wine or which bottle it is hiding in except for Otis and I. We are not going to tell anyone any information about the wine. It could be red or white, dry or sweet, old or young, etc.

I will hold a little contest for all those attending who would like to participate and try to guess which bottle is not what it seems and is really a WA 98-100 point wine. Everyone will be given one guess and I will give the winner a very nice bottle of wine as a prize (although I have not decided on an exact bottle yet). Perhaps Anwar and Trigirl can even be persuaded to relinquish the coveted golden cork award to the winner. If more than one person guesses correctly, I will have a tiebreaking procedure in place.

Should be fun.

Otis, thanks. I will most likely drive up that day to my brother’s apartment near Evanston and have him drop me off and possibly pick me up, or I’ll take a cab back. I found out about 1 1/2 weeks ago that I may need to attend a meeting that weekend in LA. If I am not able to attend the CDP I’ll give you plenty of notice so that you can bump someone up from the wait list.

VinoMe,

Yes, agreed, what a nice bonus. As spo assures, I don't have the palate to guess this, but if it has a cough syrup component, I'll be right in there.

Alta, hope you can make it, it'd be nice to meet my Ohio neighbor who I've been needling for the past few months. Cool

Otis - just as we start to lock everything down including kidsitting the larger family decides to require our presence at a family event that weekend. So the kidsitters bagged us.

We are now officially out so please open up our two spots on your waiting list. Thanks for your bravery in hosting. My apologies Smile

Otis,

That wait list is moving right along. Already 7 names have been moved off the wait list and onto the confirmed list. With Winetex out, Roba moves into confirmed status making it 8 names (and 14 people in all) that have now been bumped up.

We're in!! Cool Cool Cool

At the moment we're planning to stay at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort, as we'll have the kids (no, not at the CDP, d'uh! Roll Eyes), and want to make a family holiday weekend out of it. And we want the points and want to be near chez Otis. And we're driving (it's a long story) and they have a crazy offer - $129 a night on the weekend and you get a $100 certificate for a future stay at any Marriott before the end of the year. I love a deal!! Big Grin

Speaking of the hotel (Ten Marriott Drive Lincolnshire, Illinois 60069) it looks relatively close to your place Otis, any idea how far, in terms of time and cabfare? Or does anyone willing to carpool live near there? Lostverse was a lifesaver the last time, Cool but we're not en route in Lincolnshire.

Finally! We've been trying to pass this along but no one seemed to want it.

I'm guessing now...this mystery bottle is the 2004 Numanthia. Afterall, we are in Spain. Smile

Hello Otis. A business engagement just popped up for 8/11 and I will not be able to make it to Chicago that weekend. Sorry -- I'm sure it will be a great time.

Beautiful weekend here in Chicago. Hope we get similar weather on 8/11. Starting on the playlist for tune-age now. I'll post a list of wines soon (got it narrowed down to around 110-130 bottles), and also some logistical details.

Starting to get pumped up. Cool

Cheers,

Otis

Otis,

Please go ahead and remove PURPLE and myself from the list. We both have business issues that just popped up that will prevent both of us from attending. We'll catch up with the CWM at a later date.
